On another note, today was such a beautiful day in SoCal that I went down to Venice Beach with my wife and son. It's hard to believe that we are in the middle of winter and it was 73 degrees down at Venice today. Truly a gorgeous day to be outdoors. But damn it was crazy packed down there. Took forever to find parking and the boardwalk was absolutely full. But as I walked around I decided to scope out the place and scout some spots for us to hold our meet.

First, the most convenient place for us to park is the public parking lot that is at the end of North Venice Blvd. if you take that street all the way down it literally dead ends in the parking lot that is in the heart of Venice Beach just south of the tennis courts.

Second, the center of Venice is at the end of Windward Ave. This is just North of the parking lot that I just mentioned. This area has a big park open space and is between the basketball courts and where the main strip of shops begin. The area looks like this:

One of the basketball courts has some big concrete bench like steps that we could kick back on and display our boxes. The guys playing basketball would probably enjoy the music and not care how loud we crank it up. The only downside is that it's a little bit away from the boardwalk so there is less foot traffic there. Here is a picture of the spot:

This wall space is on the other side of the basketball courts and it's right on the boardwalk:

Up and down the heart of the boardwalk there are these little kiosk areas with benches. They are right on the boardwalk so there would be a lot of traffic. Perfect display spot and we would not need to bring chairs.

Plus this areas have these three tiered benches that would be perfect to display our boxes. Would make a hell of a picture!

Another option is to take a tent, tables and chairs and post up along side the merchants in the designated areas which are first come first serve. That would give us prime real state but it would be a lot of work.

Those are our options fellas. We may end up moving around from place to place but these things we are carrying are heavy so I'd like to find a home base for us. I'm leaning towards the kiosk bench areas because of the built in seating, cool display area and we are right on the boardwalk.

What do you guys think?

Dam Nice footwork Howie! We can hit ALL those spots Lol, but those are some great spots to hang out and kick it! Nice work bro, thanks for checking out the scene beforehand, especially about the parking, Venice gets PACKED. Did you see the big graffiti walls? That's also a great area for pictures. Now if we can get Chris to cancel out on Nascar we're all good LOL

WTF is right!!! This Venice meet is really important to us waving the Boombox flag. We can't go to war without our general. I know it will probably be inconvenient for everyone but I vote to try and reschedule it.
Really sorry guys...Man this bums me out.... :-/

if we have to reschedule we have to reschedule sometimes shiat happens... BUT NASCAR ?? LOL
Remember, I'm a white boy

I have a friend from Texas and him, my wife and I have been going to races for 10+ years and I really wouldn't give a shiat, but this is Jeff Gordon's last year and tickets were purchased a year in advance

Totally agree, GREAT Work Howie!

I was wondering what the parking situation was going to be. I haven't been down there in years and years.

Hopefully we can get this worked out. Sorry again...

And if I can't make it...you guys should still ROCK THAT BEACH!

Yeah I saw the graffiti walls. They are over by the basketball courts. Didn't get a chance to take a picture of them because I was chasing after my 3 year old at that moment. 🏃

Btw, Venice is a lot of things, cool, hip, cultural etc... but one thing it isn't is CLEAN! So everyone be sure to bring some kind of wipes to clean the area we kick it in. Trust me, you'll want to!!!😜

And Chris doesn't need to cancel his trip, he just needs to cut it short!😎

Yeah parking was nuts! But probably more so because we got there late, around 2:00 pm. It was so bad and I was so desperate that I parked on a side street blocking a driveway of a house that was torn down. I figured no one was going to be going in and out of that. But I was so worried that I left a note on my car asking them to call me if they needed it moved before calling a tow truck! Luckily nothing happened.

But yeah, that parking lot would be ideal but you got to get there early. When I walked by it they weren't allowing anymore cars in.

 Yeah tough to cut short, leave Thursday, home Monday

I will bring some towels to sit on!

Venice needs a steam cleaning budget!

That place has always been bad. Originally I was thinking 11am, do you think that would work?

I would say no later than 11 am. 10 am would probably be better. Also depends on the weather. On a beautiful day like today the earlier the better. If it's overcast then you can get away with getting there later.

OK, I guess we'll have to talk to everyone, see what they want to do...

Hang on .. Let's get back to the NASCAR thing.. Did you say Flash Gordon is racing ? LOL
Nope, Jeff Gordon, 4 time champion, 3rd all time most wins with 92 and the highest winning driver currently racing (for one last year) :-D

Told you I was WHITE!

We've looked at other dates but nothing else works in March. So as much as I hate to go without Chris, the 7th works for the rest of us so I say lets do it. We will just have to plan another one with Chris in 3 or 4 months.

I say we do March 7th like we had planned because people already made arrangements such as got the day off of work etc.. And then let's plan another one for June or July!
