quit my job after I was electrocuted with 220 volts via exposed wiring :annoyed: oh well-now my speech is slurred and having trouble stayiing balanced. The company I worked for knew it had electric probs for the 2 1//2 years Ive beent there-now I got knocked out and my body cramped-mouth clenched shut and I could taste acid etc in my mouth- when I came to I flipped out-started walking into things as I couldn't see and walked into a wall putting a hole in it.

I am 6'2 240 and broad shouldered. well- in the confusion I started yelling I need an accident reprt and none was offered-nobody asked if I was alright and no assistance was offered. A new guy-16 saw it happen and the breaker was switched-popped it. he screamed "FU CK!: He just got SHOCKED" and said look at the BURN ON HIS ARM

I didn't have the sense to notice I wasntotally screwes up. still am kinda- so after i went home - 3 30 am. I got up in the noon hours an hour befor I had to work and put my unifrorm in a box-adn told the manager " I'm done-I cant handle this **** anymore:

Well he tried to switch the stryr sayng I denied medical attn when in truth NONE was offered.long stoory short told everybody to f off, told customers that there are flys in the food-mice in lobby and roaches in the kitchen at my local arbys in etown Kentucky. not going back and am calling all the people I can to have something done.

Man, I really feel for you.

No one should have to take that kind of crap, you have been injured at work through no fault of your own.

Hope you make a full recovery, electrical shock is a very serious thing - did you have both exit and entry burns...that can happen too.

Also this sounds like it needs to be followed up...at least so the next guy doesn't get killed.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. :-)

Yes, good luck. Get some help with this, dont try to solve it on your own.

Most importantly, you need documentation. If you have a burn on your arm, go immediately to a doctor or even an urgent care. Even if you are fine now, you need something in writing to back up your claim. You should make some kind of claim. Quitting and not being seen could equal giving away unemployment insurance , treatment or both.

OMG! :-O That's horrible, Chris. Thank goodness you didn't get a big dose of amps with that jolt. We might be hearing a very different story.

do not let the people responsible for this to get aways with it.
see that the are pursued too the full extent of the law.
i mean its time people take a stand against poor conditions in the workplace.
these are multi million dollar corporations. if they are going to pay people crap wages and rope in huge profits then they need to be held accountable for there negligence.

Sorry about what happen to you TRC but I recommend you go to your nearest police precinct and have them file a police report. This should have been done at the time when the incident occured, the more paper trail the better your case will be!!

Keep the case number of the police report for your records and go to several doctors one for the pain, skin doctor and a pyschologist.

Speedy recovery and good luck.

Hey man there is this little thing called OSHA!!!! Call them, report your situation!

And working in construction and knowing electrical, I am surprised they are running 220v where an emplyoee could get near it in a resteraunt.. (Should be 120/208v single phase max. for coke machines etc. 277/480v is multiphased and should be hardwired for heavy duty ovens and such. ) There is something terribly wrong for you to get shocked and burned like that. Something is not grounded or a neutral is out of sorts. I guarantee there has been work done to correct the problem since your incident. :annoyed:

Definitley get an attorney. There is absolutely a workplace safety violation. :-/

Wow Chris sorry that happened to you, and I agree with the boomboxery wisdom about getting a lawyer and standing up to those responsible.

i would really like to know how your ****ing boss could say you refused medical attention if there was no medical professional present for you to refuse it from.
if thats not a good enough reason to sue his ****ing ass i dont know what is.
i mean i would be all over that.
the guy deserves to be bounced out of his job.

doing good-getting my things in order-my mom said she is going to seek legal council as to what to do as I have been refused an injury report-every single time I go there.

Lit my facebook wall up the day I quit with facts about it, posted pics of my uniform destroyed, and a vid of me burning my nametag. good way to vent.

ahh-bought a box of 110lb weight plates for my bench-have 220 before that so :-P My arms are gonna be hurting-but I always excercise to relieve stress and kmart had a sale on weights so I bounced on it  nearly broke my back getting it out of the basket and into the car though :p

I have recieved messages from employees saying that nothing happened-HAH I have a witness. 2 witnesses. they also said I just quit because I walked into a wall and it broke some plaster. so plaster is more important than my life? Okay- I now see how the store I worked at runs,

My mom and dad are more mad than anybody though, I;m not done with arbys-trust me. They said in response to me getting shocked that I would get in trouble for the wall. so bee it-were there witnesses to that? No.for all they know it had been there. I have 2 witnesses that saw me get shocked

Great advice though guys and my health has gotten back on track-I am still mad as can be though

One manager tried talking to mee via email-I told him that if he knew what was goood for him he would stop-

my best advice is to keep every bit of correspondance from your employer and do not respond to any of it.
print it out take it to a lawyer and let them deal with it.
