Just received my M50 all the way from Texas today, thanks to James Pierce. It arrived in decent shape, just the right tweeter has come loose and i really hope it's not due to any broken plastic. Will check it out tonight. I posed it next to my grey-speakered M50 which is missing the tuner panel thanks to me, and had the antenna dug out for some reason from the P.O.

This second M50 does not have the Biphonic - Wide button below the cassette, and is only coded as an RC-M50W. The grey-speakered unit is an RC-M50JW and has the Biphonic button. To be honest, it doesn't enhance the sound much. Those beautiful blue speakers DO enhance the visuals tho :w00t:

I was going to close this thread out of my own shame and disgust, but I have decided to leave it up as a lesson.
That beautiful blue on the speakers? Yes, not true :'-(
Someone's been in the box, and i figured that out as I tried to unearth the tweeter to see what happenned to it.
MANY broken/cracked posts. Some blue paint marks on certain areas, ummm, I was worried.
When i looked at the tweeter, I was mad. So I decided to look at the woofer. The pictures below will show you what I saw.
Lets just say, I am not pleased :sadno: . I thought I was getting an excellent condition M50 with original beautiful blue speakers, and instead, I got someone else's ass box.

Ah well. I'll use the pieces off of this one to build one good box using my other M50.

Damn shame.

sorry eric -- :'-(
as you noticed --nobody made any replies to your happy post --

and i think it was because it was obvious to most or all of us --
that those over-bright // over-blue speakers were a homemade bogus
cartoon version of the actual JVC blue --

i admit to knowing that --
because i have painted JVC woofs , also

and then --the other bad surprises - SUK !!!

Although I would be pissed regardless, I am more upset because I paid around $75 for the first M50, and paid $300 shipped for this painted up whore of a box.

Thanks man. as we speak I'm changing over some parts from the old box to the new one. By the end of this I will have a bunch of parts for sale from the bad box and I'll post them for sale in the for sale section at the time.
I'll post a picture later tonight when I'm done

Isn't James, Decentman4u?
If it is sorry man. But a lot of guys here stay away from that guy for they're own reasons. Good luck in getting something back for it.

Hey Stretch,

I feel for ya bro. Many of us have had radio's show up either damaged in shipment or not what the seller promised. I saw your thread earlier today and when I saw that sellers name, I looked away

You can read all you need to know here: http://www.boomboxery.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11425

I hope you get it all sorted out. Many of us know that disappointed feeling, so our hearts go out to you!

On the bright side...now that your here with the "Good People" of Boomboxery, things will improve! :w00t:

I have to say, I do like the looks of that M50

Best of luck!

and with a credit card ?

No :sadno:
I paid post office draft. He said it was easiest for him and I wanted to be helpfull. It also took him over one month to ship the box, and only after basically harrassing him did it get send out.

are you a member of s2g ?

since you are screwed out of ANY legal protection-- by using the money order -

your only chance of getting any $$ justice -
is to tell this story on s2g -

if the 'decent' fellow -
ever again wants to sell any box to members there --

he MUST make this all up to you -

just dont let any more time slip by -
if he sent me that POS -- i would be on it --right NOW !!

I feel for ya, although I've never really bought from him, there are many stories with sad endings and $300 for an M50 is a little high to me :-O But I know sometimes a person can be naive especially when getting bull shitted into something. Hope things work out and always pay using PayPal

I figured it was $200 for the box and $100 for shipping, which is actually what it cost to ship. I was willing to pay $200 for it because I thought it was super nice, and looked to be almost mint with those blue speakers I thought were so blue due to it's mintyness  .

I've replaced the handle, tuner clear cover, rear case, and carefully stolen the tuner backing plate to all put on my first M50. It looks decent now :-) . I've included a before/after. Biggest improvement is being able to see the stations, and having an antenna seems to help with reception, although it should be said that I could get stations before when the rear casing was missing the entire antenna piece.

One cool tidbit: The RC-M50JW uses 28W while the RC-M50W uses 30W, so when i swapped rear casings, I got the 30W transformer  . Hey, anything helps right?
