I'm keeping all my Big radios especially my CONION'S. M90 I had I just couldn't see what all the hoopla was about. I let it go. I kinda regret selling my 767. My Wx-1 I won't part with either.

I consider all my current boomboxes keepers. I have had sellers remorse in the past and that won't be happening again. The M90 seems to be the hot boombox right now and for good reason. It seems like the C100 and the M90 take turns at the top...the M90 seems to stay there longer though... :-D Some don't understand the M90 hype, but if it's memories you are reliving I understand the hype of any boombox. To my ears the M90 is the best sounding 1 piece boombox and amongst collectors it is always voted the top boombox. So for me I would never sell my M90 because it is the top dog to me... :-D

Great question!

Back in college I was nearly broke, so I sold a big stack of my records at a used record store and got a bunch of money for them. I then managed to fritter that money away on everything from books to clothes to pizzas, so that, by the end of the year, I no longer had the cash OR the stack of records. What's worse is that, since then, I've spent untold amounts of time and money trying to find and re-buy the records I wish I'd never sold.

Needless to say, I don't cash-in my valuables much anymore... and that includes boomboxes!

For the record, my stance is, if you think you may regret doing it, then don't do it. ESPECIALLY if you don't HAVE to.

I did it when I thought I had to but in retrospect I didn't have to. :'-(
When your feeling times are bad and the pressures are high you feel you have to sell then when you pull through you might realize it wasn't as bad as it seemed.

I don't plan on selling any of my big dogs / grails regardless unless they are doubles etc that I bought with the intention of repairing/improving and assumed I'd be selling. Not ever expecting to make any $ off them, but just love the hobby of actually improving something even if it's just new belts and a deep cleaning to find a new collector that'll take care from there.

Now.... if work ever goes slow and I really am hurting for money, and I've donated all the blood, plasma, kidneys and otherwise in my body, then maybe I'd sell some of the big $ ones. Truly last resort though as it's the only 'hobby/collection' I have now. The baseball cards in the basement might be worth a tenth of what I spend on them 20 years ago.

Now if anyone needs some mid sized Panasonic, Sanyo, Sonys (5050, etc) and the like, I NEED to get rid of some of those. I just don't have any love for a lot of mid size boxes that I bought when I was new to collecting. If it's not a M70, 9696 or larger in size, I don't seem to enjoy them much. GO BIG OR GO HOME!

I'm right there with ya. Sure some of the mid size boxes look great in the boom room, but they don't get used much :-/

I love all of the feedback, but I will play devil's advocate for a second.....

I collected Longaberger baskets for a while. Have about 30. Ten years ago, people would be beating my door down to get the ones that I have. I held on to them all thinking clearly, they will only go higher. Now, I can barely get what I actually paid for them. The same is true for my attic full of Star Wars stuff. Before the epic fail of Jar Jar Binks, I could have paid Emily's college tuition with what we had. So, we held on to them. Now, well....collecting dust and I couldn't give half the stuff away.

So given the fact that certain things will see peaks and valleys of popularity; if you see that one of your boxes appears to be peaking, would you sell it? Does it truly boil down to how much you love the box, vs how much the box could be worth? :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:

I personally don't mind if ALL the prices for boxes dropped to next to nothing...in fact i would love that to happen. My collection is all paid for...and if the prices dropped on boxes i would be able to use all that extra $$$ to buy the biggest mansion...so that i could continue to buy more boxes...i LOVE boxes more than anybody can imagine...and even if boxes were worth nothing to anybody, or anywhere (including e-bay)...they are such a huge part of my life no amount of money could replace them...ever  I don't buy boxes to profit from them...i could...but it is definitely not my style. I am a COLLECTOR

That's it Gord, we are "collectors". I know I didn't buy my boomboxes to make money. I think the intrinsic value of the boomboxes are priceless :-)

If your purely a collector and collect boxes because your fascinated by and get joy just from the sight of them then selling them is just not an option whether for huge profit or not. Financial stress is about the only time I see pure collectors sell their boxes and even then it's apparent that doing so is causing a lot of turmoil. I'm only slightly tempted to sell some at the current high prices because they are doubles but even then I really don't want to. :nonono:
