I picked up a Lasonic 922 and just got in in today. It wont power up so will it will need some work and resto. My question is were there different makes of this model? Most of the ones I have seen pics of look like this one.

Thanks, I was starting to wonder if this box was a frankenstein and put together from a couple boxes!

I just happened to check the goodwill auction site and this auction was on the last day with only 2hrs to go. Had about 5 bids on it. I bid the last couple minutes and noone else was bidding.

That's an excellent way of describing Lasonic's R&D department!

Thanks for the offer blu_fuz, but I have the knobs and the front glass. Had the back off to look inside and just have not put them back yet. Smells like somethings burnt inside  I got a guy that works on all this old stuff so I guess tommorrow its going to the shop. I know nothing about working on these other than cleaning.

Ewwww, burned smell - like electronic/electrical burning smell?

That's not good. :sadno:

If you figure out what you need, you know where to find me ;-)

Took it to my guy that works on these and he said it looked like it might be a small recifier on the little board next to the transformer. He said no biggie! We'll see if thats all it is or not. blu_fuz you got a back case for this model? Its got a nasty crack at the bottom, the side has some heat damage where it reshaped the plastic, and one of the plastic catches that hold one of the aerials is also broke off on the back case.

I actually gave away the rear case from mine, sold the handle, traded the big speakers, sold the cassette door, and I took the antennas for my 975 :-/ . I have everything else
