Hi
Nearly there with my TPR990. Had a good look at the tape mech out of interest. Its not as bad as people say. If you watch the cogs as it works there is a main cog on each control that has a catching mech on the side that grabs a little hook to pull things into motion. There are other assorted cogs but no worse than the others I have. Would'nt ever dismantle it though...
My problems are two fold. Hopefully minor though
The first one is'nt crucial. Now the tape deck works but the indicator leds above each button a quite dim. They all light but not bright.
The second problem is a slight hum from the transformer. Do I have to change the capacitors on the supply board?
Thanks in advance.
