Hi - Newbie here. Been collecting radios for a good while now and moved onto Boomboxes (or as we used to call them Ghettoblasters
)
Picked up a Tosh RT-170s for £20 on Ebay last week. Usual problem - gunk which was once a belt) I originally bought one of these for my 18th birthday in '83 so it's been a special purchase for me. I had to remove the flywheels cover to remove them to get rid of the gunk, cleaned them up and a bit of grease. I've put it back but it's not great despite the flywheel cover sitting quite happily back on with no force required. Now...
I'm not happy with the drive belt where if sits on the motor.
Capstan heights seem OK
Not sure if the belt is on correctly i.e. round both flywheels
When pressing play in either direction - it's making an awful sound as if some cogs aren't engaged correctly.
I've removed them both several times and replaced and still the same.
I'm worried now in case I shouldn't have taken out the flywheels for a proper clean :-( I'll be gutted if I have cocked up.
Any ideas? TIA
Hi
I'm an idiot - just checked a random 150S manual and found the correct drive belt fitting.
All cleaned, greased where it sound be, new belt - all done. Well pleased.
