Yep had to replace the National RX5700 I traded year before last and got a great deal on this all the way from Tokyo  Packed real crappy of course but survived the long trip. She's in great shape as I just restored her in 3 hours today. I might need to replace volume pot but it's working excellent :-D. Looking for a 50K pot with D shaft, got to go through my parts units but I'm not in hurry. Only issue with it is when it's set all the way down you can still hear right channel a little, no biggie though. Enjoy pics ;-)

Thanks guys and I just ordered a volume pot hoping it works as the shaft is a little smaller than original

Another cool thing about this unit is the Music search lock down buttons work perfect. These usually are not working on 5700 and I had to repair last one I had. I know a few other guys who have this unit and have same issue with the lock down buttons :-)

Wow nice box Bill - just my style!! Regarding the volume pot, I had an Hitachi pot that still had output on the right channel when turned right down. A tiny bit of loose debris inside the pot was the cause of the phantom noise.

How does the sound compare to other 70s boxes?

Congrats again,

James.... :-)

Thanks James. Sound on these units is not bad even with the small speakers. I thought about taking pot apart but I just bought a bag full for $5 shipped. So hopefully new one will be better ;-)

I got two of those....

Yeah I love the Disco Label. Jeannie made me one for last 5700 I had but it just wasn't as nice. Did you fix your MS button Lockdown?

The wood on the side is nice and it would be sweet to have the stand that goes with it....But it's the complexity of the control panel that does it for me. It reminds me of a cold war era launch control panel for ICMB's. It's a complicated mystery and the wrong settings could destroy the whole PARTY! I love analog circuitry!

The thing this box lacks is a weighted tuner and lighted tuner. This would be an amazing looking box with those 2 functions  I'm not sure anyone knows this but the 5700 has a rare way of tuning in a boombox. Most boxes are with a string but this unit uses a plastic type belt with teeth and turns with gears. Unfortunately I forgot to take pics but will remember next time it's opened :-)

My National RX-C300F-2 is the same way. Plastic belt, teeth, & gears. If you ever take your tuner apart, yes pics would be great. I imagine setting the gears would be easier than wrapping tuner string, but you never know. :hmmm:

Where is the other one? :morepics: . RX-5700 is a solid box.
I need to pull it out for pictures later. Not easy when you got many boxes in its way. My RX 7200 is also hidden in plastic cover in a cabinet.
