about two days after saying I'm not going to risk buying any old boomboxes from ebay, I bought one   it just felt right and I think my first semester of boomboxery school paid off because I noticed this Lasonic TRC-931 was a 1st edition!! so I BIN for $199 + $24.99 shipping and thank goodness the seller did a great job of packaging it. Okay...... GO!!

Lucky You are!!
Did you save any photos of the Packing?

:hmmm: :hmmm: no I didn't but I will in the future

It's been a really long time since some one posted pictures of the original 931. Seems like they are getting rarer and rarer. This style seems to SCREAM 80's just a little more than the 2nd gen.

Is this one fully functioning? It looks great man....I still need to get the 931 and 922 in my collection

thanks brother, the left speaker was a little fuzzy when I first powered it up but I opened it up cleaned everything and it sounds great. a couple of the function switches are a little loose but other than that it's in really good shape. I want to try and fix the rattling on both 931's

Wow, your a lucky man to have found this 1st gen 931 in such good shape!

Recently I went through my 935 / 951 / 975's and handled ALL the rattles using this self adhesive high density foam weather stripping. It's easy to work with comes right off if you decide you don't want it and you can cut it into any size you want.

I tracked down all the rattles, the cassette door, the back panel, the sides....It made a HUGE difference. Rattles like that can almost sound like a blown speaker. Not the BASS is so TIGHT....I love...it...Damn, now I need to go dig out my 975

You can not see the foam when the door is closed and it doesn't interfere with putting a cassette in or out.
