Rode my bike here, over 1 mile away just to pick up my 1st and 2nd Boombox. Panasonic RX5010 for $50 and Lenoxx Sound C-772 for $80 :-). Took the Panny back a month later to buy Lenoxx Sound...The good ol' days

The Shack is still around but they sell nothing but crap and the people who work there only know cell phones. Kind of a bummer when you need help on an electronic component :-/

I miss Crazy Eddie and The Wiz. :'-( They had every single radio on display in there. And I do mean all of them. The Wiz was big on Fisher back then. I played with every single one till they threw me out.

Don't forget us overseas folks. You gotta still love the Exchanges & PX's where so much of this stuff was purchased to bring back to the states...

Oh man!! That's hot! I used to go to the one on Astoria blvd. they made a bunch of the commercials there. The Wiz on Steinway was the other spot. Now ones a weird church of some sorts and the other a Rite Aide. There was a Wiz in Flushing too on Main St. Good times. I bought my first Boombox from it. It was a Lasonic knock off with square chrome rings on it with a 5 band Eq. I believe it had 8's in it too. Can't remember the name but it didn't get much play cause it was WEAK!!!

Not true there were none in chi town area :-( but there were tons of electronics shops in Chicago (Jew Town in Chicago) was famous for having all the blasters :-). As a matter of fact Jeannie bought her disco lite at one of them for like $170 :-)

I loved window shopping at Times Square just staring at so many boomboxes.

I bought boomboxes from everywhere in the NY tri-state area 14th Street, Times Square, Elmhurst Queens, Flushing Queens, Junction Blvd. Queens I could go on & on.

Hi Juan,I don't remember what store it was but near Times Square.
Uptown Mid-Manhattan.
It I think was a smaller maybe an outside electronics store, lots of
boomboxes!!
I remember I wanted one with twin antennas! :-O
But them were like 189.00 and up! :hmmm:
So I purchased the Sanyo M9970 for 149.00-my first new Boombox
and to buy it in Manhattan!!!
I thought that was special! :-)

Sold it to my neighbor in 82 or 83 after I bought my new GF-8989II.

He passed away in 86'
I has the opportunity to buy it back and a few albums but I didn't
because I was scared because he died of Aids!
I didn't know? Alot of people didn't know enough about it
back then.
I'm straight BTW but I was still friends with him.
I do wish I would have got it,I'd still have it.
Oh well those were the days!
BTW I think I remember new Big Bens back in like 84' when I was
looking at PC-55's they were like 400.00 something but the brand new
PC-55's originally retailed at 999.00 but on sale for $699.00
I bought mine almost a year later for $599.00! :choco:
I want more new boomboxes!!!!!!!!! I've been spoiled buying them
new back in the day!!! :breakdance: :surf:
