I was born in this country, love this country and will defend this country if and when our shores are threaten!

This hate amongst ourselves needs to stop! America is destroying itself from within and people and stupid future politician don't realize that there's a real enemy out there smiling and enjoying this.

I feel sorry for those that died in the hands of police officers as well as those police officers that lost their lives in Dallas.

Hate and racism is not what America is about!!

Why in war times soldiers as well as civilians come together and on 9/11 people came together no matter what color or culture, but when it is over people go back into this hate about this person or that person.

WHY!!!

This kind of hatred started way back and still in continues. Sadly Nothing can stop it. We can only hope!

A nice write up about the song

The band got the idea for this song when they were traveling in Japan in the early '70s. War drummer Harold Brown told us: "We're all connected by language, and by our food, and by our culture. Most racists don't know why they're racist. But you pick them up and take them over and drop them in a country, like India or Pakistan, guess what? 'Why can't we be friends?' Because all of a sudden you find out we're more alike inside than we are on the outside. We started realizing that that's really important. You travel all over the world, you can't speak a lot of their language. But one thing they do know, they know your body language, how you may react."

Each verse was sung by a different member of the band, with Brown singing the first. The line, "I may not speak right, but I know what I'm talking about," is harmonica player Lee Oskar, who is from Denmark and was just learning how to speak English.

This song makes a statement about the absurdity of judging others based on our differences. War started out in the early '60s as a black band called The Creators, and they managed to break down barriers, becoming the first black band to be booked on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. As they evolved into War and went through member changes over the years, the band integrated, often playing with white musicians like Eric Burdon, who was their lead singer for two albums. Brown explains his philosophy: "I like exemplary people around me. I don't judge you by your name, your color, or your money. I judge you by whether or not you're an exemplary person. Because if I know you're an exemplary person, and I want you to move this equipment from here to there, or you're building a house or you're shining shoes or stuff, then I know you're gonna do it the best you know how. That's the bottom line. See, that's where people keep falling off of America here, because we get inferior people in positions they have no business being in."

I agree :sadno:

It's not just America. You guys aren't gonna believe this but at our recent federal election, some Aussies voted Pauline Hanson back into the senate - (Pauline Hanson is a known racist and overall mental retard). :-(

I'm all for religion if it makes people happy but as soon as they use their religion to look down upon people of a different faith, then I loose support for the whole thing.

We are all different. So if you hate difference, then you'll end up hating the whole world.

There are some wonderful people in this world. You can never judge who is a great person by just looking at them. It's the inner person that matters.

Black, white, yellow, pink, green. Who cares what colour code you are? I know I don't. :-)
Treat everyone you meet well and you'll be surprised who becomes a friend.

In all honesty, I think police might benefit from better training. Better situational awareness and emotional discipline.............And also give them more non-lethal force options. Maybe then we'll get fewer questionable shootings, which would lead to less distrust of police.

Being a cop must be a very tough job. I couldn't hack it.

Police will stop killing black people when the fines, fees, settlements etc that are paid as a result of their, ... um, ... overzealous policing ... , are paid out of the Policemens Pension Fund.

Don't cost them nothing to kill a black man.

Sad that the gunman was a veteran who served in Afghanistan. He let his anger dominate his way of thinking and look at the outcome for WHAT!

Five police officers lost their lives because of hate and countless other civilian people. Thank god we have smart phones because now it tells the truth from what have been occurring over the decades. There are bad cops out there but also there are good honest cops starting with my cousin in the NYPD!

I remember the movie "Colors" with Sean Penn and Robert Duvall where the character Sean Penn plays is an over eager rookie out to make a name for himself. The character Robert Duvall plays is a veteran cop with a lot years working in the neighborhood and gaining the public's trust. He shows the ropes to Sean Penn's character how to gain the respect from the neighborhood by listening and sometimes forgiving and letting go people for small petty arrest.

That's what the academy needs to teach so that the public can feel they can trust the police.

Rule out those that shows hate. The blue wall of silence needs to be over.

Can you please show me where you obtained this statistical data. Per capita we have more guns than most countries but 95 percent is a little high

I am sure he meant 'don't ' have guns. Hand guns (legal ones that is) are almost non-existent among general public here, although I do not know the actual statistics.

Thanks Dr DER this video really moved me deep inside!!!

We have been cursed with this sickness of hate. It's time that we get rid of this sickness.

No matter what religion, no matter what is your sexual preference, no matter what race or color!

We have got to start being loving people, why is it that only when tragedies arises is when we come together.

LOVE people is the cure and passage to happiness. No matter how hard life can be at times don't let anger and hate take over YOU!!!

One Love.
Peace!!

Although I feel that talking politics (and religion) can be extremely dangerous because everyone feels differently AND it can destroy friendships in a heartbeat, I think your comment above would be as simple and digestible by everyone world wide.

But in my experience, I haven't seen it. In California, I would consider the population to be EXTREMELY open minded, but I still know people who grew up here, who have had the experience of being surrounded by a culture that is potentially among the most diverse in the world who attend churches that (IMHO) teach HATE in its most grotesque form. The things that you have written above I have spoken of, only to be screamed at in my face by "Friends". I have often wondered what the actual credentials are of the people who are standing up in front of these congregations and are telling them outright that other people's sexual orientations is something they must FIGHT ON THE STREET. That a woman's body doesn't belong to her and that she should be punished for going against a book written thousands of years ago. That the threat of changing global weather patterns aren't real because "God won't let us hurt ourselves". Their sheer hatred of people of other colors, country's, religious beliefs or basic idea is utterly disgusting.

And more sad than ANY OF THIS is the fact that people won't even make an educated decision of who they will vote for. Instead their answer is "My grandpappy was a (fill in blank, red or blue), my daddy was _______, I'm a ______ and that's who I vote for!".

It's these reasons why American's are the laughing stock of the world. They have a voice and a vote, but they are so uneducated and foolhardy that this is what they do with it. Or of course they don't vote at all.

Lastly, they put a curtain on the voting booth for a reason. So you could go and privately make your choise. That anonymity helped keep friends and family from infighting. But today everyone wants to vomit their opinion in anothers face via social media or straight punching them out. Yet another thing this modern society has lost with this wonderful new technology.

People don't care about facts.......they just care about supporting their predetermined views.

Witness Fox News, MSNBC, and the thousands of blogs where information is slanted one way

It's all about instant gratification.

"I'm just gonna go read this conspiracy site because I've already made my mind up that there was a conspiracy"

What cracks me up is how some people post comments using their Facebook profile under a CNN article or some other huge news site like that. I mean how stupid can you be, posting strong political views using your real name, under a CNN article that your boss could see.
