It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

I Am Legend
way back then --32 years ago --movie fans must have had no minds of their own ---
instead they all depended on a few ' big name ' reviewers to tell them what to see :dunce: :dunce:

for this one --it was so badly panned ( in my Boston area )--as a " worthless waste of time and money "
that it was an instant box office failure  :'-( :'-( :'-(

just a few weeks after the ' grand' opening --
nobody had showed up to the big theaters -

so --by pure luck --i stumbled into it --- playing at a local tiny movie house --
for just $1.00 !!!
all the 'loser' movies ended up there for matinees only

even for a buck --there were just about 20 folks in the 100 seat place :'-( :sadno: :sadno:

but the cheers and laughter sounded like 200 !!!
----------------------

by great luck --movie rental shops became big nationwide --
and this ' worlds greatest movie ' has become -- i will guess -
the most popular ' cult film' EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only other "cult" movie that comes close to Blue Brothers (at least for me), is Blazing Saddles - downright friggin' hilarious.

Aw man, they certainly don't make them like that anymore. :-/

Since we're all locked into the RBJ time machine...

It's 1980, I'm 11 1/2 years old and it's Friday night with the family at the drive in theater.

Of course we're rolling our 1978 VW Bus

My sister (two years older than me) and I are in just back from the concession stand with our pop corn and Jr Mints as the sun sets and the movie screen flickers to life....

THE BLUES BROTHERS and....ALIEN

How's that for a double feature!

The Blues Brothers remind's me of my late Dad. It was a Saturday afternoon and for the first time, he took my brother and I to see our first movie at an actual sit down Theatre, up till then we had always gone to drive ins. The memory is so etched in my head. A great funny movie, first time out with my dad without my mom and first time at a sit down Cinema!!! Simply Fantastic :-)

Flash Gordon
Dolemite
The Program
Office Space
Donnie Darko
Heavy Metal

They filmed the car chase highway scenes in downtown Milwaukee when they were still building i794....we just rebuilt that entire freeway system a few years ago...I thought about those scenes often while I was working on it

Me and my brother pesterd our dad to rent this movie but as soon as Elwood said were going to visit the penguin and Jake replied replied with "no f**king way" he whipped that that cassette out the betamax and that was that. TBF he let us watch the car chase at the end.
