Hey Brothers & Sistas!!!
You know how (un-buh-lee-vuh-bly) HAAAARD it is here to find a boombox, let alone a grail-level-boombox???

Here in Mérida, you name it, we simply don't have (they don't exist):

- Goodwills
- Flea Markets
- Second Hand Stores with Electronic Section
- Salvation Armys
- Swap Meets
- Garage Sales

I'm just Str?nj, that's why I'm still collecting (or trying)... LOL! :dunce:

So, I give up right? NO WAY JOSÉEE !!! - I JUST LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Boomboxes too much to give up...
My only real possibility is either Epay, Mercadolibre or the old tech shops...
My eBay account was suspended because of things not worth remembering now, Mercadolibre Venezuela rarely has anything but Coby's so I just end up making occasional boombox-police "rounds" to the few (literally three) old tech shops that are scattered downtown...

THIS HAPPENED TO ME...
I go back to this particular tech guy where I had been a looong time ago but didn't go back since the guy's always busy workin' and rarely has time for chitter-chatter... BUT, I went by about a week-and-a-half ago and the guy was kinda sittin' and just doing nothin'. I had heard from another tech guy (friend of mine) that he had stashed somewhere a Sharp VZ (don't know which model) but that the problem was the amp module was absent. So I ask the guy about it in the nicest way possible and he says that yeah, he has it stashed away among the hundreds of old TV sets that people just leave there forgotten and don't pick up... I tell him that I collect and that if he's interested in selling it (since the owner of the VZ left it there for repair about 5 years ago, and hadn't picked it up yet?) He told me to drop by like 2 days later and that he would have it out for me to look at and talk business... I go by but the guy apologized that he didn't have time to dig it out... Told me to check back in two more days... nothing... It's been about a week in a half of going and leaving empty handed and today I go by again and... nothing! :annoyed: :'-( :-/

Today he told me to go back this saturday the 18th.... man I SO hope this guy comes through with this VZ this saturday, I REALLY would like to have it....
he also said that the record player mechanism was working (I hope so) !!!!

So brothers, please wish me LUCK on this,
I'm gonna take my camera with me so you guys can see the
"Little [strike]tech[/strike] Shop of Horrors" this tech guys has! LOL!  :unknown:

Would it be crazy to think that this could be the only VZ in the country? That someone brought it in, but they were never shipped there?

You have to get it....you know you can get parts from the boys on here!

You could end up with a REAL rarity.

My fingers are crossed for you bro

Well Chris, I know (haven't seen it, but the owner has told me) that there's another VZ (don't know which model either) is in Mérida, but the guy uses it for PC speakers and doesn't wanna let it go! I don't blame him, I wouldn't (hopefully wont in the near future) either!

For now, all I would need is to know which amp chip it has... so I can start lookin' for one (if I can find one here that is)...

Man oh man I hate those adventures. It's so frustrating dealing with flakes.
No doubt about it Bill... dang... now all he said was wait for his call... who knows when he'll call... he said he wants to clear the place a bit, and I offered my "uninterested" help... LOL!!! Let's see what the guy comes up with....

You guys won't believe it... Today I accidentally found out something that I thought I would never ever hear anybody say to me here in Mérida... :-O :-O :-O

Today I went out to buy some brownish/greenish spray paint for the back cover of my Sencor S-4850 and I started talking to the owner of the hardware store where I bought it about how the spray paint is for one of my boomboxes, and that I collect, and blah, blah... and a guy next to him says that the owner's brother (who has another hardware store) has a big boombox that doesn't work but it's the kind that plays LP's (gesturing as he inserts an imaginary record into an imaginary VZ in mid air)

HOLY CRAPPOLA!!!!! Can you believe it??? Of course, I didn't show ANY sign of interest (because it is said here in my country, that: "He who shows hunger, doesn't eat!" - LOL) So I stayed very calm and cool as I proceeded to ask him the name of his brother and did he think that he'd like to show it to me? He said: "Francisco" and told me to go there and say that "Chucho" sent me... Sooooo I [strike]ran[/strike] walked off to the other hardware store as soon as I could, but this Francisco fellow wasn't there, he'll be there tomorrow!!! Oh man, now I have two (2) VZ (something's) here in Mérida to hunt down!!! OH NO, IT'S DIFFICULT ENOUGH HUNTING DOWN ONE!!! Let alone 2!!!! - LOL!!! I'll keep you brothers and sistas updated!!!!!!! :smooch:
