The Minisette-10 I just bagged... (maybe this time the pictures loaded properly?)

Just in time for the new year... BIN'd this Minisette-10 for $27 (with shipping). Seller claims tape and radio work OK but the counter isn't running. I should have a spare counter belt if that's all that's wrong. Here are pix from the auction...

There seem to be a number of style differences from the successor Minisette-12...

For comparison, here's a *JVC RC-S1...

*don't actually own the RC S1 - picture someone else posted...

Just arrived today and was about as the auction photos showed. Needed a belt change and the thing was a right pig to get into - if you're going to slap a circuit board over the drive belt mecha, have the common courtesy to bus all the wiring connections. It's cleaned up and working - though the pinch roller needs replacing and I would have if it wasn't partially under a bit of trim that looks like it doesn't want to be moved easy.

The stickers that fell out of the thing indicates it was manufactured in the summer of '81. Would be starting 7th grade back then. How many MP3 players will be around in 33/34 years? How many of us for that matter...

Can I ask, how did you replace the pinch roller?

I have one i have been meaning to do, I have a new roller for it was just wondering about getting the old one out. Did you replace the whole thing and housing to or is it a case of pushing out the pin that goes through the roller?

I was obliged to replace the whole sub-assembly as the roller seems to be riveted to its mount. Luckily the Minisette-9 pinch roller unit was identical to the Minisette-10.
