as i sort of remember it
---from 50 years ago !!!
Harley was doing well$$ --sharing their usa market with some great european
competitors :: BMW, BSA, Triumph, Moto-guzzi , etc
but by the 60s --along came the entire combined japanese talents --
honda, yamaha, kawasaki and susuki
and -all of a suddy -it was almost curtains for harley
but --they didnt panic
of course --they could have fired their huge milwaukee staff
and made all their bikes in asia --
but --instead - they continued their usa production --
and added super duper gas and electric golf carts to keep
their factories alive and profitable--
in 1963 --they rolled out their first model ---a 3 wheeler--
WHO KNEW ???
it would get discontinued --as soon as their bike business
made a $$ comeback--
as a result --not many of these were made....or saved !!
and now they are serious collector carts
most owners want them ORIGINAL--
so they are rarely 'customized'
but mostly restored to perfection
---------------------------------
many years ago --i found mine -
of all places -- it was on EBAY !!!
.... in florida
cool --
except i had to win it in a 7 day auction -- :annoyed:
and drive 800 miles !!!! round trip to get it
---it was all in parts --so i stuffed them in my pick-up truck
soon after that --my back went fubar :'-(
--trying to surf standing up on my KAYAK
so -its just sitting in storage --waiting for my recovery |-) |-) |-)
--------------------------------------------------------------
anyhow --here are some pictures of some 60s harley carts -
that have been restored and loved
