I wondered that but assumed that someone had been using distemper on a brush to brighten up their bog or something, but had sploshed all over the radio in the process? I like the effect though but, and all it needs would be to clear the bits where it hardened in the mesh on the grilles for that intentional custom look.

but that does not bother me on the contrary, it looks very cool in dark

Here in Germany there are not boom boxes from each lot of
e.g. conion and LASONIC as there are with you in the usa more boom boxes this

Is the paint on the speaker grills original?

Nope paint isn't original... Wish I could sell mine, now looks to be the perfect time. Can't though its a gift from my wife who found one locally. Just can't seem to warm up to it. The knobs and switches seem cheapy and I don't like the layout (really hate it when the volume knob is the same size as bass/treble etc) personal peave.. But it is biggish, roughly the size of the lasonic 931 and 8" speakers.
