Nice review Rick. Looks like I need to open mine up and see if there is some simple reason why it does not sound as good.

Glu, The Master of the Review.

Well done, can I have it now that the "Consumer Reports" of Down Under is finished with it?

Loved the review Rick! I have had a few Big Bens, and I think they are underrated mostly because they are rare, but I agree they are topshelf!! BTW, your sound is awesome in your video!

:agree: Well done, as always!!!!

James is right about the sound.... came across nice on the PC! Makes me think your camera's mic may even be a worthy setup for actually doing box vs. box sound comparisons.

Ever thought of doing something like Aiwa TPR 950 vs. Sanyo M9990 reveiw that way? Or C-100F vs. M90???

I would, but my camera's mic is horrible and it just wouldn't do the trick.

Of course I want one now, but there is no way I could come up with the $ for that heavy hitter unless I found it in the wild. Great review.

Thanks brothers!

The camera I use is a Sony DCR-SR60, I was really pumped about the sound quality too! Very little distortion.

It's a standard definition hard drive camera I inheireted from a friend who upgraded to an HD model.

I think the trick to getting good sound is doing it in a controlled environment and testing the levels on the radio when you know the distance you should be at for the duration of the filming. Then you zoom in for close ups and don't physically take the camera closer to the unit. That way the sound is balanced. Too much external noise outside, between wind, cars, birds, etc, etc to get a really consistent audio quality I found.

I use iMovie for all the video editing twangfrippery, Frank. It automatically lowers video track audio when you record a voiceover. I've been experimenting with level adjustments in that too.

My video camera tripod arrived this week, so expect a new review this weekend, it should make for much better pans, plus this will be the first one I do with my studio lighitng rigs! Like everything I'm leaning all the time with this gear, so hoping for a nice improvement each time with any luck.

Just need to decide which one to review next....

Rock On.

Chris: http://syntherotica.blogspot.com/ I rip/edit and post 80s synth soundtracks from vintage porno movies. I think it's pretty fun!!

Rock On.

I checked that out (PM sent BTW) Totally awesome....Spent allot of my youth listening to that music too! I grew up in Van Nuys, Chatsworth and Canoga Park California where ALL the porno industry filmed, duplicated and distributed from!
