One of my biggest regrets was not getting an olive green JVC Kaboom when it was available in store... specifically, at Best Buy. It seemed too expensive, so I kept waiting for it to be clearanced out at a sale price. It never was. One day, they were just gone.

I think in recent times as I'm new to this it would be a Hitachi TRK-9900E which I remember way back in 1982 a friend's cousin had it.....only for it to be removed by some light fingered individual while they had a party. That sucker was loud.

The auction ended early...I wonder why

Cheers

wow. how did that one end? Did you finally get the right box? :'-(

Nope! The seller returned my money and i could keep the awful tandem...perhaps the seller got a higher bid in the meantime for the 8614..i am still getting angry over it!

They are the ones! When the box arrived i saw at once at the size of the package that this was going to be a big disappointment..and it did!

Hm, at this point a would say it was a quite good deal.... :hmmm:
Ok, the D8614 would be great.
But finally the tandem for free is a nice score.
There have been some more worse deals at ebay... ;-)

Ok, I got one.....

reptoid outbid me for it

box was in rough shape but didn't look like the typical 20/20

It had emerald green decals instead of the typical clear/silver :hmmm:

Since then, I have always taken the chance on a boombox that "doesn't power up" because it is worth the risk!

Well, now that he cleaned it up I think he has the most rare Rising 20/20 with those sweet labels:

I think he bought it for less than $50 with shipping????

I wasn't going to let this rare unicorn Rising 20/20 with green decals slip through my fingers again. I made a deal with an ebay seller and I have one on the way! Something about the green on this already beautiful boombox has made me WANT it so bad! I can't wait to see it here in my collection ;)

There are a few I lost on Yahoo. Jp when I was in japan. I was bidding on the Victor / JVC with the tv in it. But I gotdrunk and forgot to bid at the end. Its ok. I know where it went.

I try not to linger on lost boombox opportunities. There are more out there with my name on them. I feel lucky to have what I have and even luckier to have met all you great guys in the process.

1. A like new condition JVC RC M70 seller replied me if I want it for $200. I saw the e-mail from him the next day only and it was sold for over $900. The seller actually was living a mile from my house. I had to finish 3/4th of a bottle of bourbon that day and still it hurts my mind. :sadno:

2. A lady from Nebraska put an RX5350 in amazing cosmetic condition on Ebay which only had some minor issues. I contacted her and after a little talk she asked me if I wanted it for $250. She agreed to get on line and settle it then and there. I thought I can still beat down the price and asked her to call me if she agree for $200.
I recieved a call from her only to tell me someone who was bidding it was ready to pay her $800. I almost fell uncounscious at work. :sadno: :sadno:

I was too poor to afford that big, new Sony CFS-99 when I was a teen in the early 1980s. My parents bought Me it's little brother instead (CFS-500). That CFS-99 has always been on My want list for that simple reason. Anyone have a complete one to sell? ;-)

Made me so mad
