I'd like to hear some stories about great boombox you almost had, but somehow it just didnt happen.

I'll start:

Mine is a rather sad story :sadno:

A few weeks ago, I saw this Michael Jackson boombox at the store, For 7$, I thought it was too expensive, so I passed on it. :dunce:

Now I see the same model as a BIN on ebay, for 400$ :-/ :-O

MONOLITHIC

The 100% mint Toshiba BomBeat RT-S90 with the 100% minty box and ALL accessories comes to mind. :-/

There was also a _____________ with the same treatment.

Only one really sticks in my memory, so far.

Saw a DiscoLite at a local pawnbrokers before I really started collecting and before the Madonna exposure.
The guy wanted $200 for it,.. and I ummed and ahhed too long and she got away....

Rock On.

For me, it was a Sansui FX-300 that sold with a BIN at around 3AM before I ever saw the notification from eBay.

I Am Legend
less than a year ago --
right nearby in florida-

a very was nice GOLD CONION popped up on ebay-

the starting bid was quite low-
and the photos were a tad dim-
the listing said nothing about the color

so -- NFW --would anybody but a true conion genius
have ever guessed that it WAS THE gold model ???

i did see it come up --within a few minutes of the start --
but --as i already had a 'regular' silver c100f -
i just bookmarked it -
with no bid :dunce: :dunce:

a short while later --
it was sold --for a cheap ( ish ) BIN

:-O :'-( :'-( :'-( :-)

The boombox that comes to mind was too painful of a loss, so I won't bother sharing that story -- would be too painful to revisit all over again ... :'-(

As for the Michael jackson boombox, it is really nothing to special in and of itself, but for 7$ compared to this:

Looks rare to find! Did it say Disney Co as the maker on the back? S orry, I'm not helping here am I. :-)

I remember now why the mj box caught my attention.. On the back it said something like "Jackson entertainment company" or something. It was the real deal from 1984, not some modern Chinese stuff.

Aaahh...a minty discolite for 450 euros BIN on eBay - back then I thought I would never pay that much for any boombox - then I saw them go for over 1000 :'-(

A beautiful mint Conion C100 for 750 dollars...I had the money but thought they would get cheaper :sadno:

A GF1000 for a BIN of 500 euros (I think) that good old Blasterpunk snatched off German eBay before me

Sigmatec Discolite I did not get because the seller only accepted money order...but for only 300$ :-/
