A few years ago I would've agreed with you regarding its looks. I now think it would've looked better if its tweeters matched the design of the woofers (small, round, black grilles with chrome trims, and chrome dustcaps visible). In my opinion, woofer-matching tweeters are key to obtaining the perfect boombox appearance.

I think the Panasonic RX-5500 really captured that perfect boombox look. Here's mine...
