I had it and the SCR-8 twin. Great score! I don't know about a speaker upgrade as the amp isn't the strongest but in stock for it's quite effective.

I keep trying to replace my blockbuster with other boxes as my goto outdoor blaster. But every time I try I am dissapointed and go screaming back to the blockbuster. It may be my most beat-up ugly P.O.S. looking blaster due to years of abuse, but it just has the features and sound I like. This may be the box I would keep out of 'em all.

Ah yes, I now own said Blocky. I parted with my Hitachi 8600 to get it. What a lovely box it is too, fully working now as Dave fixed the deck and FM Stereo issue for me. It sounds great. Here's some new pics...

Interesting comparison pic with the 838, so the Blocky and the JVC are about the same size?
I always thought the 838 would be bigger, maybe Crown 850 size.

The 838 is about 1" taller and about 1/2" wider than the Blockbuster.
