Thanks man,Kenpat said:Damn, Chris. Good points. Hell, a whole thread full of good points...
You have a way with words when it's something you're passionate about.
You have no idea what living in a legal state, but having all the work in your County on military bases, does to your "right" to smoke. It sucks. It's tough to watch many enjoy when you are not supposed to. Hell, there must be half the County that could be tested for cause. Some individual towns and counties up here are trying to ban it within their limits even after we passed legalization.
This is a long way from over, folks. I think, though, that the tide of history is on our side.
Burn one for me, will ya?...and if anyone doesn't like it, send Phil Rudd over to "convince" him.

I think there is a time and place for anything that impairs a person. I don't want my military high! I don't want welders working on a bridge high! I don't want the kid at the drive through window high. I think that having a good high paying, stable job is worth more than getting high. I think it's a fair trade. (not that working a drive through is a "good high paying, stable job")
One of the problems that face legalised pot is that it stays in your system for a long time. Unlike alcohol, it's out the next day. You can't test "Time of Ingestion" with pot. And that's a problem. Were you high 12 hours ago when you were on watch?" If we can't be 100% sure, YOU don't get to do it. It's just part of it.
While touring with a band from 1991 through 2012 we never traveled with pot. I would always ask the shows promoter if he could get some locally. That's how you know if you got a good promoter!

I have only been legal for 2+ years. For the other 28 years I bought weed like everyone else in the US, from a buddy, a band mate or a loser, WHO 9 times out of 10 was selling something else.
Scariest time I ever had while getting weed:
Had a buddy in the 90's who was my bass players roommate. Guy was cool, dealt lots of weed, but also sold "Other things". One night we're making a purchase at his place, knock at the door, he opens and there are some hardcore dudes there. Straight up LA gang bangers. One dude hands my buddy a box 12"x12"x12", say's "I'm Out, Leaving Town, These are yours". Dudes walk off. Buddy opens the box and it's 4 ounces of weed and a GUN! A 25 cal semi, no numbers!
This is what I have removed from my life! Being legal means, I don't come in contact with these people. In Ventura County where I live, there are no Pot Stores. I go to a website: http://sespe.org and place an order. An hour later it shows up, I pay with a credit card via a smart phone and it's all legal and all good. Been doing that for 2 years. No chance of me getting shot! No chance of me being tempted to by some Cocaine and throwing my life away. Just Chris, chillin' out, drinking a beer's smokin' a bowl.
I haven't seen that. I will look for is.frontside5 said:I just watched The Culture High. A bit long and repetitive but did a good job in snagging some very high-level interview subjects (including one retired supreme court judge if I remember correctly).
Main takeaway I'll always remember: # alcohol OD's: a lot; # marijuana OD's: zero.
That alcohol / pot OD stat is true and has been the strong point in an argument in California's legalisation for 20 years. People don't die from smoking weed. They just drive really slow!
(don't smoke pot and drive
I might be behind you!)
