Technisonic Conion TC-999 + Tecsonic J-1 Super Jumbo woofers

Playing certain Hip-Hop tracks on the TC-999 reveals some limitations with its woofers: bass doesn't hit hard enough with 808 blessed tracks and whatnot...
Figured I'd gut the J-1 Super Jumbo for its woofers and throw 'em in the Technisonic to see how they'd look and hear how they sound.

Probably hard to spot but if you look at the chrome dust cap to woofer ratio AFTER the J-1 woofers were added...

Regardless of the somewhat subtle change in looks, the box definitely has more kick now!! I love the sound!!

Plan on taking it out in the sun and shooting some video of the box in action - NOT like the videos I posted before tho! I really want the sunlight to hit it hard!!

Its the rounded (free edge) edge that I think makes the differrence in sound. The stamped "W" woofer has its limitations. If i could do it to all my radios i would. Looks great too. DIBS on the old woofers if your not gonna do anything with them. Imagine if you put those woofers in a C-100f. That radio has more power than the 999!!

I see that, ultimately, I'm gonna have to get a C-100f for my collection! Ha!

Back to your 1st point tho... Yeah, you're right on the money about that stamped "W" woofer surround. I think I've got one box (General Sound) with that kind of woofer design that actually kicks but the rest are lame on bass. EDIT: Add my Diatone JR-711 to the short list!

I've got a pair of Lasonic 8" (that need to be painted black because of oil/rust spots) that I could've thrown in the TC-999... They go lower than the J-1 woofers - in my opinion - but don't have those large-ass dust caps! Haha!

Not sure what I'm gonna do with the TC-999 woofers just yet... When I get my replacement J-1 woofers, I'll definitely hit you up! No point in keeping 'em if they're not being used!

Bigger is almost always better in this regard! Just noticed that the caps are actually bigger than the outer tweeters now!! Ha!

hell yeah . the j1 has huge caps and long throw woofers that thing just thumps . looks great man :thumbsup: .

Just another pair of J-1 woofers I plan on buying from Blasterpunk in a few weeks. Nothing else would look right in that box.

I was actually thinking about trying 931 woofers in the J1 at some point just to see how

Like I said, I have some 931 woofers that have oil/rust spots on 'em that I would paint black... I could use them but I'm not sure if I wanna go smaller on the chrome dust cap size...

You do raise a great idea tho... White Lasonic woofers in a J-1 might look hella dope!! Maybe I'll throw 'em in just to get a sense of how they'll look. If they look great, perhaps I'll buy a broken down i931 and throw those woofers in there! I do believe those Lasonic woofers hit harder than the original J-1 woofers 'cause my TRC-931's bass is deeper!

Hey Mono maybe look for an i931x beater and take the woofers from there. They'll be a lot fresher than 30 year old joints. I have some 30watt Sony's with a fresh surround on them. But no chrome caps. They're black. Ya got me wondering if I should throw them in one of mine now. The C-100 uses a 5.4 ohm woofer (Japanese version) where the other one (Korean C-100f) uses 4 ohm ones. decisions, decisions..... :hmmm:

Man, you should try it - might make a world of difference in the right box!!

As for me, I'm gonna see what I can do a little later + check eBay for beater i931's..
