:hmmm: Can't say I remember Technics ICE stuff, & that Technics badge looks wonky to me.

no way is that a technics,it looks too poor quality to be a technics,it looks like its a radio that came factory fitted to a car like a ford or vw or something..i dont think technics ever did car radios,but Panasonic,their sister company did ,,

I also think the Technics badge looks like it's not original - that was the reason that I wanne ask the people here if somebody got more informations to this. But thanks for your replay ....

Never had technics head units here in the states in the 90s
looks like a blaupunkt/realistic/audiovox to me

The one Tom is asking about might be an OEM of some sort, it does look on the cheap side which would be installed as a "factory" head unit. It's easy to forget how big car sound was back in the day and everyone wanted a piece of the pie including the likes of Hafler, Marantz & Carver. I have a National 4ch car amp amp that even has "ambience"

"Toyota (including Lexus) - Another Japanese car maker with a large number of AM Stereo equipped models from 1985 through the mid 1990s. This included both base level radio-only units as well as premium Double DIN-size cassette radios with graphic equalizers. Models known to have AM Stereo include the 1424, 1626, 5425, 5429, 5625, 5627, 5635, 56801, and 86120-17070. Some or all of these radios were manufactured by Panasonic (a.k.a. Matsushita), and in some cases these radios were given the "Technics" brand name, which is Panasonic's premium audio brand. Most or all of these radios had conspicuous "AM BW" (Narrow/Wide Bandwidth) and "AM ST" (AM Stereo) buttons on the front panel."

Thanks for the infos and this great link!

I got a carry combo from Clarion - it's a car stereo system in a kind of flightcase so you can use it as a home stereo system. I saw it in a old print advertisement where the wrote "real hifi - so good that you could use it at home ..." (not so shure if I can remember the words exactly) ...
