No, I don't understand it either. The box is very stable laying flat like that - basically, most of the bottom is covered by a thick rubber strip - but still, the bottom edges at each end are prone to get scratched or dented up if you're not careful with how you sit the box down.

Feet would be a good idea because I don't like the idea of the entire bottom scraping on the ground.

just a question : did they design it to be flat/sit flat to transfer the sound better on what it sits on ? hence no feet !
Why would they not have looked at near every other box that has feet in some way ?

seems strange to design it to rub on the surface it sits on :-/

i never take this box out because its too heavy ......as far as feet i would glue to rubber hockey pucks on the bottom that would give you alot of clearence unde rit and a good cushion this box it definitly wide enough for this  .....again just my thought :hmmm:

Don't think know they should consult this message board during prototyping? Feet on the bottom, a battery case that doesn't require a screwdriver to open, and not so many damn wires/tranformer needed outside the box would my my initial feedback. And of course maybe optional speaker grills (maybe simple magnets to hold them flush to case). it's pretty crazy to have such pretty woofers and dust covers just out in the clear.

But the volume does go to 11, so it's got that going for it....... which is good.

"Hockey pucks"?! HAHA!! Actually that's probably not a bad idea...

I still have a Philadelphia Flyers hockey puck (I used to have 2 but misplaced 1) from when I used to work at the Spectrum back in 1992-1993...
Only 1 but it didn't look all that bad propped under the box, tho probably a little too tall for my liking.

The Powers That Be at TDK probably don't even know who the hell we are... "Who-boxery?!? :-/ GTFOH!!" Haha!

Yeah exactly!! Those funny concrete surfaces can scratch up the bottom of a box real bad... I'd rather the feet take the punishment than the main part of the box itself.

They probably did 'cause the thick rubber strip seems to be an isolator of sorts as the outer edges of the bottom of the box sit fractions of an inch higher than the strip and not level.

Yep, I like felt pads too, except that there usually isn't much thickness to the felt ones and the TDK is made of acrylic, isn't it? = brittle and easy to chip. So the stick on rubber feet like the ones in mono's link seems better suited but in my experience, the adhesive backing don't hold up well when the item is a portable one and they legs start creeping/sliding around and/or fall off. In other words, if you install them on a VCR which just sits and don't move around = fine. The best/ideal choice would be feet like the ones in home stereo equipment but you do need to drill a small hole to mount them.

On the contrary I have felt pads that are over a quarter inch thick.
These go under couches and chairs and bear a lot of weight. A lot more than our boomboxes.
The TDK bottom is not acrylic and not brittle at all, In fact it is a solid rubber slab underneath and is very durable.
I'm not sure why you would even need feet under it unless you were going to sit it on concrete every day.

I mention concrete 'cause I wanna have that option... I could always baby it and lay on a towel tho. Haha!
