tdk 3 speaker boombox

Actually, my sony MP3 player links up better to the TDK boombox then any ipod. Ipods don't change the boombox display to say the song title and you still have to change songs on the ipod.

The sony MP3 gets linked 100% and displays songs on the boombox display and you use all function buttons right on the boombox.

Also has a couple of line inputs and an instrument input that is mix able with Any of the other inputs.
Another kool feature is the capability of being mounted atop a professional grade speaker stand. :thumbsup:

...that is great news because I have a Sony mp3 as well... :-D

That price is unbelievable!! They still cost 500 euro's overhere in Holland same as in Germany..no wonder they are sold out that quickly..i also own the box..the only thing that really bothers me is the fm antenna wire..its terrible..i installed a rod antenna with some modifications.

I was going to add a rod antenna to mine too! Show me some pics man :yes: :thumbsup: :w00t:



Another idea I had was to incorporate the handle as the "antenna" by routing the antenna wire in the box to the handle mounting posts :yes: .

Sorry but i dont have the box here right now but this is what i have done: I found out that a plug from an ac adapter kit fitted in the connection for the external antenna at the back of the tdk. I welded with some solder a rod antenna onto the plug so now you can put a complete rod antenna into the back of the unit..the plug holds the antenna and it works better than the wire and there's no drilling or anything necessary so your box will remain undamaged.

Wow this thing is massive. Only problem is that my baby was being a little turd tonight and I didn't get a chance to play with it! Damn.

All this design into the TDK boomboxes and they couldn't just put the freaking transformer into the case and use a regular boombox cord. That has to be one of the most irritating things having that brick hanging off the power cord :dunce: . It's small enough to put in there so I might just modify mine someday and add an internal antenna or do a "ROD MOD" to the TDK :yes: .

Seriously TDK, how did you screw up the 3 speaker boombox?! They had it almost perfect with the 2 speaker ie, size, portability, sound, bass, etc.

My honest opinion comparison of the two side-by-side, note-for-note, the 2 speaker boombox is the winner in oveall mids and bass. I'm not lying here guys. The 3 speaker TDK gets that center speaker flopping around way too much and way too early in the volume scale.


I might get shot for saying this but the 2 speaker sounds better..................... let the shooting begin!

To be honest with you, when I heard all models at future shop, the little CUBE was the best sounding of all of them!!!!!!!


But I would only spend my money on the 3 speaker flagship just BECAUSE.......it's a LOOKER and not much worse off in sound than the cube. As for the 2 speaker, I thought it performed a bit less off that the 3 speaker.

Joe looks like you have a nice group of boxes to have to worry about. :-P

I sold one of our 2 speaker boomboxes on ebay already on Friday. I need to run some more tunes through this 3 speaker boombox in different rooms to get a better feel for it. Right now though the 2 speaker is ahead.

The 3 speaker will be a grail someday for sure and it sounds incredible and the sound is more clear than the 2 speaker tdk.

OK, I have some more listening time in on this 3 speaker TDK.

It's plain and simple that they took TOO MUCH punch and sound out of the 2 outer speakers on the 3 speaker TDK :nonono: .

The 3 speaker is overall good-to-great at all volumes. Nice tight bass through low and mid volumes. At high volume the outer speakers are nice and clear but don't really put out any bass and the center speaker doesn't really put out any more bass after the knob is turned up past mid way either. It stays more clear than the 2 speaker TDK, but you have to turn the bass down to get that center woofer from wobbling around so much and making unwanted noise. Even with the woofer, the 3 speaker TDK is what I would call a "rock box", because you can crank it hella loud and really feel the punch and rich sound of rock music.


The 2 speaker is OK-to-good at low volume. At mid volume it is noticably BETTER than the 3 speaker because of the bass output of those two speakers (which are pretty much laying dead on the 3 speaker boombox :-/ ) . Once you crank the 2 speaker TDK past half way then you start to lose the clarity in the music because the reverberation of the speakers interferes with the tweeter clarity output. More of a "boomer" boombox at half volume, but again cranks out rock music like a raped ape!

Don't get me wrong, I am in LOVE with the 3 speaker TDK and it will be here forever!


My baby(s) are going to have the coolest boombox collection passed down to them some day. For now, Ella can just help me open the boxes :lol: .
