Hi
Me again with another GF-777 issue!
Tape 1 works fine. Tape 2 plays ok but won't rewind. Motor sounds ok.
Does this sound like a typical belt issue and if so, how hard/easy are they to change?
Any help would be much appreciated

Wow, cheers Fatdog, this is excellent.
Great pics too
This will keep me busy for a few evenings, but hey, it will be worth it! :-D

Cheers both.
I hope they're not too worn.
I'm hoping that they just need a good clean.
Don't know where I could obtain some new idler wheels otherwise :-/
I guess whilst I have it in bits, I might as well change all the belts anyway.
Does anyone know what two sizes of belts it uses?

I just realized that I didn't include belt information in the write-up! :-O :-O

Here are the belts you will need:

SBM6.0 - qty. 2
FBS11.5 - qty. 2
SBS7.4 - qty. 1 (tape counter)

you can also make a new idler wheel tire using a section of rubber hose ,you just have to find a hose roughly the same diameter as the tire and snip a piece the width of the tire and attach it to the wheel.

Just ordered some belts from Studio Sound Electronics for my GF-777. Might as well, seeing as all this wonderful info has been layed out like this. Kudos, Bobby, for your work!

I did run into a little problem, though. They don't list the FBS11.5. Anyone know another source?

Oh, yeah, that's right. They don't carry that one. I ordered mine (FBS11.5) from HBF Electronics. Same great quality as Studio Sound Electronics and fast shipping. Great prices too!

Their website is somewhat difficult to use if you don't know a part number.

I think they are the ones who have the VZ belts too. ;-)
