I have a Tandberg 9200 XD Reel to Reel in repair and it turns out the problem is a faulty motor. Even worses, the part appears to be made out of pure unobtainium. Extensive web searching is not yielding any decent results.

I know its a real longshot on this forum, but does anyone here have a parts unit and can sell me a motor?

Here is what's printed on the motor:

Top line: PAPST-MOTOREN KG
2nd line: HSZ32.50-4-860 DeM
3rd line: 230V 50Hz 1.5uf

I think the motor from the 10 XD and 3600 XD may be the same.

Any ideas or help greatly appreciated. I've already posted to http://www.tapeheads.net, http://www.audiokarma.org and will also post to S2G.

:-O Unobtainium? Man, that has to be the rarest element ever known to man.

Good luck with your search, jaetee. Tandberg is a righteous brand!

Yup, unobtainium is the perfect name for it... :-D Gotta try to put a funny twist on a frustrating situation...

I also blasted an email out to the NakTalk list, but I don't know if I will make it out. Lots of those Nak guys are also into reel to reel, so I may get lucky...

Thanks for the well wishes.

any way to find out if any different models used the same motor you need?

I've already disqualified a few models, not sure about some of the others. See my original post, I mention the models that might have the same motor...

I read somewhere that parts were still available from Tandberg

Tandberg is now a video conferencing specialist company. They aren't in the audio business anymore.
