So you got your hands on the Mars...OR

yes it came from skippy, the speaker upgrades i do to this will take it to the next level. it has sealed wood cabinets almost .65 cu ft perfect for real bass drivers like some old skool kickers. and 8 inch speakers ,even at only 8 inches those kickers will whoop the snot out of any other boom box speakers.oh and i plan to make it portable and battery powered because i can swap the components over to modern 12 volt units and that's the biggest reason i wanted it was to have a ready made battle star that i can customize and return to normal if needed.

Wait...and I know you are the shiznit of creating bass monsters...but the MARS is like unobtanium isn't it? Wouldn't this qualify for just a gentle massage? :-D

yeah true but i want options , i tired of big heavy crap that only plays fm and cassettes, would be nice to modernize it and i can always just put the original comps in if i wanted too. i have all the parts.

it is a tank and the only plastic part is the clear glass on the deck door. no other plastic at all. had a wood case with sealed speaker cabinets, and the cabinets are bigger than they look because they extend to under the tape deck area.

I read somewhere that this Mars box weighs an incredible 30 kilos, is that correct Floyd?

I used to think my GF-777 was a heavy box at 12 kilos! The JVC DC-7 is very heavy for its size at 18 kilos.

oh its heavy but i think my dc 7 and pc 55 weigh a bit more. i put the mars up on my shoulder and it seemed fairly manageable just cumbersome , but you won't go far carrying it ,after 10 feet you realize you made a mistake lol.
