Speakers :w00t: so tonight I was working on some stuff my remix for my friend in the uk turned out good and should be out anyday now. I've had a flood of creativity lately. So tonight's quest was to create the deepest electronic kick drum in the history of human kind, what started off as my moog filter set to self oscillate degenerated into complete madness after I threw a sub harmonic bass generator into the signal chain. It was so deep that I thought for sure my internal organs including my brain were being turned into sonic pulp. I've had my reveal monitors for a while now. I like them because they pump out a fair amount of bass for a smaller speaker. I programmed a basic pattern into the sequencer and about a minute in I stopped because I wanted to make some adjustments, unfortunely I forgot the filter was still set to self oscillate . I kept trying to figure out why it felt like there was a fan on a warm breeze coming from somewhere in front of me. Sound is a wierd thing I glanced at one of the tannoy reveals on the desk just at that moment I could see where the breeze was coming from. The speaker cones were moving so insanely that I thought for sure the would come shooting out of the cabinets and smoke me in the head. Speaking of smoke that's what came next. I guess I pushed the old gals just a bit more than they can take. Sucks because monitors are not cheap. I mean I have some b&w monitors I could use in a pinch but I really don't want to kill them. This is the first set of speakers I've killed in the studio. I've had them for a while now. Next time I think I will just settle for the frequencies I can actually here. I should have thrown my limiter before the board but ....... :chris920: Aside from cooking a new set of speakers I'm really starting to develop my sound and have had excellent feedback from the people I did the remix for. I'm keeping my hopes up for having this new found inspiration alive.

Thanks man. I also had the pleasure of discovering I have four b&w studio monitors sitting in my closet I had forgotten about :-)

Very wicked Bill!! I love it!
Love techno music and this is great!!

You must have been having fun to blow some woofers! :-O
Sometimes if you have replacements it's not so bad.
I can't believe I haven'tmblown my JBL's up yet.10" ers only but made
In84' so it's quality.
It's those darn titanium dome tweeters that can hurt my ears!! :w00t:

What kind of synth's are you using? Plus what size woofers were they?

I've always liked the sound of the Yamaha DX-7 & 9's.
Also love the Rolands.

BTW you don't have an original Moog do you?
They are so cool and I heard they're worth. Fortune!!

I used to play the piano but that was a long time ago.
Been around alot of musicians though.
Keep up the great work man!! :-)

Yes I do have some moog stuff in my room right now. I buy amd sell vintage synths constantly although they are becoming scarce. I've owned a few moogs. Mini poly memory source opus prodigy. I only have the source now but it's going to go soon. I do like the sound of moog but I find them pretty limited. I actually am into analog digital wave table synths now. I have some Roland analogs as well. I have some moog modules as well I will never part with.

Hey Bill dope mixes dude. Respect. Im enjoying all of my boomers together switched on same FM station booming from the good fm transmitter hooked to the mixer and 2 cdj's mixing very brutal tech house and techno ( now the cdj's sold :'-( ). And dude i prefer the boomboxes all together than my 4 active PA speakers  . Not studio sound, but unexplainable joy of 30 at least old paper on the speakers  . I got good 12" active PA pair speakers 750w moment peak rated blown from deep tech bass a few years ago  (god help with cheap repair :-D ). And it was one of my best memories. The bass was insane before that

Thanks man. I can use blasters with the music I do... This stuff I posted isn't a mix. It's all analog synths I program then just record :w00t:  every note sound and pattern I made from scratch. Real synths no samplers but I do like samplers. They are just some rough ideas . I spent some more time today refining some things. Well there's a lot of refining to do  . The thing with using a Boombox to monitor a raw analog synth is the raw analog sound would decimate it in about ten seconds. My music usually sounds best on big big big speakers because there is so much sub harmonic grit in there you just miss it on smaller speakers. Most music is listened to on iPod earbuds now but it's impossible for me to master a track for that. Because I am hearing impaired a huge part of my music is the actual feeling of the sound hitting your body and I just can't get that anyother way. Soundloud automatically compresses tracks so they won't kill your speakers :-)
