Sweet Hitachi find

I also have a soft spot for this model as it was one of the first mid size boxes I ever got and from a good friend of mine. They are lovely looking and not bad sound either. I think what marks this one out is the story, that'll hold some memories one day that box.

Oh WOW, what an awesome story Arron , sorry to hear about your dad though. Hopefully everything will be OK.

That's one minty 8200 though, I have a nice clean one but not as good as yours. It's a nice full featured biggish box with good looks, and those needle VU's. I always leave the Dolby NR LED on as it draws the eyes to the VU meters! Sadly mine needs a new bass potentiometer as it has no adjustment whatsoever. It also needs new belts. I hope to fix it all up sometime in the future as it's beautiful cosmetically and has a decent sound. What's strange is the side-mounted FM mono/stereo selector!

Not really. We all get enamored and obsess with the top boxes that we get colorblind to those lower models with thinner features.Great Norm haven't seen one like this? That surprises me!
