I live in the desert Southwestern United States--and am always envious when i read here of members picking up a bargain box at a flea market, or re-sale shop---
Not many chances of that for me here---I've yet to find a viable urban artifact box from the late 70's early 80's locally, although i keep looking but---it's the internet for me....
I luck out the other day by taking a chance on a Super-Scope Marantz CRS-2100 with a toasted battery box and busted antenna for $9.95 plus cheap shipping.
After 3 hours of Q-tip cleaning and some antenna repair-- it plays sounds and looks great, the cassette deck, meter&lights all work perfectly---somewhere down the road i'll have to try to figure out how to how to replace the battery springs destroyed by acid--but for now it's sitting next to me while i write this--playing one of my LA jazz 60's mix tapes....My first ever real bargain--
