I live in the desert Southwestern United States--and am always envious when i read here of members picking up a bargain box at a flea market, or re-sale shop---
Not many chances of that for me here---I've yet to find a viable urban artifact box from the late 70's early 80's locally, although i keep looking but---it's the internet for me....
I luck out the other day by taking a chance on a Super-Scope Marantz CRS-2100 with a toasted battery box and busted antenna for $9.95 plus cheap shipping.
After 3 hours of Q-tip cleaning and some antenna repair-- it plays sounds and looks great, the cassette deck, meter&lights all work perfectly---somewhere down the road i'll have to try to figure out how to how to replace the battery springs destroyed by acid--but for now it's sitting next to me while i write this--playing one of my LA jazz 60's mix tapes....My first ever real bargain--

superb small marantz.gotta love the 70s boxes, solid, sturdy and reliable.as for your battery corrosion/springs knackered issue, just get some old springs from a beater box that are intact and refit them to the marantz.youll need basic soldering skills though as one of the terminals requires soldering.but once you can do this its not a big job-ive got one very similar,i believe mines a crs 2024

Thanks for the repair advice--
I totally agree this model is built like a tank---I am really enjoying it--
As to the battery springs I was sort of thinking along the same lines--I can solder--at least i have done it before--I may wait to do any repairs since it's running and sounding excellent ....

That big ol monolith looks like great quality and an unusual box over here, I would of snapped that up for sure.

Good score mate.

I like the dark brown color of these. Nice box, great deal.
Very true---
the black back and dark brown front is really something different...
Looks good sitting out in a room....
