Heh, I didn't really like any of those. I was all about the Lotus Esprit, BMW M1, Aston Martin Vantage, and Lancia Stratos :-)

Yeah, those were hot cars back in the day for sure. I would still own an Esprit!

I had one a few years ago. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that driving it onto the beach nearly got me drowned. See that (late) Colin Chapman? He lied about the whole submarine thing.

Seriously though but; I have had one and it was truly epic on the few days in the month when it worked. The rest of the time it leaked (oil, fuel and coolant), it overheated if I dared to push it along a bit on a suitably unrestricted road, it smelt bad, its chassis rotted away before my eyes as a result of poor pickling during build, it eventually redeemed itself by bursting into flames in a restaurant car park and taking a couple of expensive cars with it ( ) and in spite of that I still loved it. How? Simple; it was insured for well above its book value as it was previously owned by some minor royal and my key policy carries a protected bonus that allows me to burn sorry, lose in tragic circumstances the occasional car once in a while.
Oh the irony of it; my recently bought MK7 Golf Diesel is quicker to 100mph and back to rest than the Lotus was and the VW uses about a fifth as much fuel.

Wow man, what a story! I'm not all that surprised. I have heard the build quality was low on those. I always liked the way the looked, but kind of figured it would be a P.I.A., much like a Delorean.

80's Exotic's and early Muscle Cars can't stand up to today's modern cars. Computer controlled everything has just made them faster, no way around it. But it's not just about numbers it's about what is exciting and interesting to drive. To me, having a computer take me around a corner at 1.3 G's isn't as exciting as hanging on for dear life with manual steering, no anti-lock breaks and a stick shift. Ripping the corners knowing that it's all YOU keeping that car on the road and not the wizardry of some geek computer programmer back in Maranello or Tokyo.

Lambo! Lambo! Lambo! I like the Lambo!       I've been watching the prices on the Countach for a couple of years and they sell for what they would have sold for new!

I love the Countach...BUT...the parts are so insane I don't think I could ever even consider one. The parts on my car are ridiculous compared to Chevy's and Honda's but seem NORMAL compared to the Lambo! Clutch parts are $4000 not installed. $12,000-$20,000 installed. Front break pads and rotors are $2000!

Just Crazy Numbers!
