i doubt it does ira since the 5080 only has a tone control, i would expect the 5085 to sound somewhat better.nice radio!.

My first official boombox was a Panny RX5085 that I bought brand new in late 1982. Great sounding radio and of course with everything Panasonic, they build them great with quality sound and components. I sold it on ebay back in 2002, and regretted it ever since. I currently have a Panny 5080, and they sound very good also. They are thee best tone control boombox ever made hands down! You have to turn off the Ambience feature if you plan to crank it past halfway mark, or it distorts. I always keep the tone control all the way to max.
