Had a 350 chevy engine for sale on ebay for about 2 months now. 3 non paying bidders so far all with zero feedbacks. so now i state in my auction to contact me before they place a bid or it will be cancelled. Also this is a local pickup only since motor weighs about 500 pounds, no shipping. So today i get a zero feedback bidder that bids at last second. Worst part he lives in NEW YORK. I live in Arkansas!! who in their right mind will drive 3000 miles to pick up a 300.00 motor? People that can't read simple instructions really piss me off! :evilmad:

Why not set your bidder permissions so that anyone below a certain level of feedback has to ask before bidding? You can block newbies automatically and releasing an individual user ID to bid is easy once they're held on that list. Far easier in fact than having them contact you first, which doesn't give a seller any protection. ;-)

I do a little selling on eBay, and have off and on for the last 10 years. Through 2 accounts and 9 1/2 years I never had a problem. Then in the last 4-6 months I'm finding myself shaking down buyers for payments.

I don't know if eBay is making it easier for peeps to set-up scam accounts or what's going on but it's happened to me a few times recently. Get high bidder on an item and the buyer turns out to be a non-paying buyer.

eBay does not make it easy to block these blokes. You can block someone with -1 feedback, that doesn't help. And as a seller....you can't leave negative feedback for a buyer. So what ends up happening is people leave negative notes with possitve feedback rating. That doesn't help of course unless you spend the dang time to read everyone's feedback.

You can block specific users too, but even that is of limited usefulness if the a-holes get wise and reappear with another new id. All they need to do to get around the feedback score-based block is to buy a few cheap, electronically delivered items and get themselves some positives from sellers.
It is possible to leave negs for buyers but in practice few folk bother because of the quantity and scale of the hoops through which you need to jump to be granted leave to neg a buyer. It would be easier to break into the PM's office and stab him in the head. There's a plan now....

As for good old eBay; it's not fun like it used to be.

Really??? Since when??? A lot of times a slow buyer is the reason things take so long, and seller's get the negative feedback for "Slow delivery." I thought we used to be able to leave negative feedback for buyers, that's not cool. :nonono:

It's been this way since 2009, like I say, it is still possible but a seller has to apply to eBay for leave to do this and the procedure is very much in favour of the buyer. I just managed to leave negs for a couple of buyers though, the situation there was that thae two were working to wreck one of my sales. Before eBay would grant me permission and enable the feedback, I had to produce FWIN codes from reports made to the Police about this as well as a letter from the PF's office stating that they'd be prepared to prosecute if it became necessary. So small wonder that so few folk bother.
