There are some hot rodder's out there that want "Original". I sold the old stereo out of my car, 1983 Apline for over $100 :w00t: :yes: :lol: It wasn't anything special, that's for sure. :huh:

I remember that radio well. Had it under the dash of my '69 Chevelle SS-396 back in the day, with Pioneer TS-695 3-ways in the rear deck. It was the most stylish under dash car stereo offering ever to be produced back in the day, that I can recall, but the drawback is that the speedometer-like "dial" tuner was FM only. That's not the most expensive example of that model. I think I saw one just a few months back go in the 600's range so it seems that's the going rate for good examples of that model.

Because $99 30 years ago was a ton of money for a teenager and took a very long time via newspaper delivery route to save up. You tend to remember the things you worked hardest for. Today's kids..... Easy come, easy go.

I believe you and some others here have made the point. These would go great in some early mid to mid70's cars. (I think these came out around 73'-74'.) And though it has no AM, which considering when it was made is out of step, Pioneers "Super Tuner" series were revered for their sensitivity and range on FM which was really coming into it's own at the time of release. As clean as this one is, why not $500 for a real classic under dash unit in a classic car? :-) :-D :super:

Except back in the day, I recall those alpine buttons keep falling off. In fact, I think that my old '69 corvette has an alpine in there... loose or missing buttons and all. I'll have to peek inside and verify though. It's been many many years since I even looked under the car cover. :w00t: :lol: :thumbsdown:

Probably the earlier shaft style Alpines had that defect.
The late 80's to mid 90's units were Alpines best.
