Ok guys, now that we have all come down from our high of the Venice Beach Meet, I think we should start brainstorming our next big meet. We have set the bar and I intend to keep raising it. I know it's probably too soon to start thinking of a specific date but I have all kinds of ideas that I want to throw out there for you to think about. There are pros and cons to each option but the good thing is that we really can't go wrong with any one we end up deciding on.
Option #1 Go back to Venice Beach
Well if it ain't broke don't fix it. In other words, the last meet was such a success that we know the second time around would be great too.
Pros:
- Arguable the best public setting to display our hobby.
- We've been there and we all know where we're going and we understand the layout of the boardwalk.
- Centrally located
Cons:
- Well, we've been there and done that.
- Since we already got a bunch of amazing pictures, it seems like there isn't much of a need to have Nannette photograph it again.
- Good amount of walking with our boomboxes. (Bring a strap for your blaster)
Option #2 Santa Monica Pier & the 3rd Street Promenade
This location is just about 3 miles north of Venice. It will give us the same beach vibe and the 3rd Street Promenade is just about 2 blocks away. The promenade is primarily a pedestrian walkway with a variety of shops and restaurants.
The Pier:

The 3rd Street Promenade:

Pros:
- The pier will provide us with great foot traffic and very cool setting to take pictures.
- The promenade will give us a different kind of cool vibe to see and been seen.
- Between the pier and the promenade there are picnic bench type areas where we could kick back and crank up our boxes without being harassed. This area is right along Ocean Ave. so will have lots of cars cruising by.
- Some where new that Nannette could photograph us at.
- Centrally located
Cons:
- Although the promenade would be a cool place to cruise through, we wouldn't be able to crank up the volume of our blasters. There are too many businesses that would complain.
- Good amount of walking with our boomboxes. (Bring a strap for your blaster)
Option #3 Hollywood Blvd.
This is one of the greatest boulevards in the entire country. It's an absolutely iconic place with landmarks not only all around us but also underneath our feet (The Walk of Fame).
Hollywood Blvd:

Hollywood High School:

Pros:
- The best combination of foot traffic and car traffic that LA has to offer.
- Almost unlimited Kodak moments (The Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, Dolby Theater, The Hollywood sign etc...)
- Two blocks south of the boulevard there is Hollywood High School where we can kick back on the front steps and blast our boxes as much as we want right along Sunset Blvd. This would also provide us with the same photo backdrop that has been used in countless music videos, movies and other photo shoots.
- Another place where Nannette can do her photo magic.
- Centrally located.
Cons:
- While walking on the blvd and visiting the Dolby Center shopping area, boombox volume would be limited.
- Good amount of walking with our boomboxes. (Bring a strap for your blaster)
Option #4 BBQ at Griffith Park and the Griffith Observatory
This is the largest park in Los Angeles. It has acres of mountains and grass areas. The observatory is an iconic landmark that has hands down the best panoramic views of Los Angeles.

Pros:
- This location will provide the best environment for us the hang out, enjoy each other and our boomboxes. We will also get to enjoy some good old fashion BBQ food.
- There shouldn't be any restrictions on volume while we are at the park.
- The Griffith Observatory will make for a great backdrop that will also provide us with epic pictures of downtown LA and to a lesser extent the Hollywood sign.
- Another place where Nannette's services would be used.
- Centrally located
- Limited amount of walking with out boomboxes.
Cons:
- While we are at the observatory, blaster volume will probably have to be kept to a minimum.
Option #5 BBQ at Griffith Park and the Griffith Observatory & we hit up Hollywood Blvd.
Pros:
- Everything mentioned in "Pros" section of Options #3 & #4
- This option would carry over into the evening and therefore give us a night meet experience.
- Nannette would be freakin busy taking pictures.
Cons:
- This would be a long day. Probably will go from 10:00 am to about 7:00 pm.
- Lots of walking with our boomboxes. (Bring a strap for your blaster and your most comfortable shoes!)
So now that I've let you into this crazy brain of mine, what are your thoughts about all this madness I am proposing? Btw, feel free to share other options that you may have.
