Well all the boxes I'm buying have voltage selectors so you can change it to whatever you need. And no there's no Chinese lettering on them as they aren't Chinese, but I think all of these 3 are made in Japan for the English reading markets, unlike the Victor M70 that I just saw on ebay outta Japan.

Buying China Seems to be working for you. Not for me though, I'm not convinced, even with the threads title. :-)

There are enough boxes here in the states, I think I can find everything I want, eventually, by buying domestic only.

How come I've never seen this thread before? :hmmm:
M40 your killing it with these boxes, I'm glad its been working out for you.

But I agree with the others regarding the packaging, just not enough for my tastes.
Try buying one from a member, and you will see bomb proof! I think it has something to do with us having an attachment to the boxes we're selling and dont want to see harm come to it, even if though its going to a new owner. :-D

I DO like his outer box packaging style though. :-)

P.S. Take off the plastic on the Conion!!!! You Won't!

nice to see that you get satisfaction with chinese seller, as i'm gonna do the same in the near future ( I've already bought some boomboxes in china, but just by wondering on flea market). In fact I won't using ebay but taobao as i'm gonna go to china soon, and i get in touch with a seller on taobao who were selling 777s there (taobao is a kind of ebay but just for chinese customers), and with the help of a chinese friend of mine, we spoke to him and this guy was the xiaosan seller, and the funniest thing ( I think a chinese seller is definitely a chinese seller) He offered us some good prices if I wanted to buy a bundle of 20 to 30 777s :dunce:

I definitely think that there is some vintage factories somewhere in china... by the way i just made some nightmares about my livingroom surrounded by 30 777s

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt that Japan was lying about where its goods were produced. Remember, this was the 80's, when Japan was just starting to outsource some of its manufacturing to China and Korea. They were probably nervous about it, and didn't want anyone to know, so they left the "made in Japan" stickers on them. It's not like anyone could do anything to stop them, anyway.

What?
you really think they are reproducing them now? That would be huge news, see if you can find out for sure. It would certainly drop the price of these 777s if we know there is a modern factory producing them.

Discolites are next, I imagine. Was 1000$, now 200.

They're not new. Most of them seem to have a few nicks and scratches at the very least. If you check his feedback there's a couple of people mentioning the odd fault with them..........

Hmmmm....alot of used items used to get exported to China from Japan so I thought they may have come from there.

here is something i found one day

http://books.google.com.au/books?id=HcI ... CF0Q6AEwBA

need the rest of the report, might explain why so many 777 in China
Heh heh, that makes sense......All of a sudden the price jumps up, so they can't sell as many, and they end up sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

Interesting !! yep, i think also that, and I can nearly assure u that this warehouse is located in the Tianjin province (200 km on the south/east of beijing), as 3 777s big sellers on taobao are from there, and you're right, any of their products are new or really mint, all of them are from "mint" to "crap" so they aren't buidling them right now, I tried to ask one of the seller if we can come to see those stocks but the seller gently avoid the question  when you're sat on a gold mine, you don't share, anyway I think those guys bought a big forgotten stereos supplies for a bunch of yuan in the mid nineties and sell them since a few years, and that's fair (it reminds me when I found a 777 on the Beijing electronic flea market, I bought it for around 40 euros, and the seller told me that if I want he can bring me two more 777s for the next day :hmmm: but I declined the offer at this time... ), the only thing is that they use to reprint stickers (not only for 777s, most of the boxes, even crappy ones got brand new stickers)
