I'll have to make do with the JVC RC 656, 828 and Sanyo M 9930 I have just got for less than 60 pounds all in

It's crazy the way prices have hiked on so called "grails" at the moment

Only a year ago you could bag decent boxes - RX 5700 GF 777's, M70's and VZ's for cheap

Now you gotta be having 200 quid (300 dollars US) to get a decent one

Has this niche gone mainstream?

Can it really be a year ago I passed on a C100 for 280? Coz I thought it was ridulously priced?

Maybe enlist the help of Blasterpunk or Vienna Sound. They seem to be good at finding nice boxes like the M70.

It kinda seems to go in waves just like alot of other collectible hobbies.

What I find is funny is how many fairly common boxes are deemed 'Holy Grails'. when I think holy grail I'm thinking maybe they made a dozen total and its like the ONLY one in existence...

I find it rather annoying when what I perceive as fairly common box (777's, conions, m70's) and calling them 'holy grails'? Really? come on...there's like 5 each up there at any given time.... Try to find a Crown 850. lol

Good luck though!

I don't think numbers have anything to do with "Holy Grail" in this situation because it's not really rarity that is determining the moniker it's the awe factor they produce. Like the M90 even though there are a lot of them it's still a box people ogle over and desire at the highest level, or the big chrome bling of the C-100F and it's mega association with the Hip Hop culture. We could go on but I think the point is it's not rarity that makes some boxes "Holy Grails" it's a combination of other factors (size, bling, performance, etc.).

Now that being said I agree that way to many boxes are called "Holy Grails", in fact the term "Holy Grail" doesn't carry the meaning it did years ago because it's so diluted. Maybe the term "Holy Grail" is used incorrectly here because it doesn't mean rarity in the boombox world. :hmmm:

Well just picked up another boombox from the same seller who sold the M70 (they lived 2 miles from my house!) and they were saying the buyer of the M70 was in the USA and they paid a further 70 pounds (100 dollars) to ship it

holy moly - don't you guys have enough decent boxes of your own ???

310 pounds for an M70?

I haven't checked epay sales lately, so I just looked and...

Ebay sales for M70s for the past two weeks:

$650
$462
$496
$575

Suffice it to say, I'm glad I bought mine a few months back... Wish I had my M90 right about now... :-/

now who feels foolish

That hurts bad, but don't beat yourself up too much. We've all done things like that. I wish I had the pair of cowboy moon boots from back in the day. I've never even seen another pair ANYWHERE!

It KILLS ME!!!
