Hi All,

Hope you are all well.
My apologies if i have asked this in the wrong area. In the words of Joe Dirt "I,m New"
Anyhoo. Hoping someone may be able to assist. I was given an oldie today and so happy with my gift. I was given a Silver ST757 which from i can see is in excellent condition with everything working and intact including the Arial. Looking for thoughts on this item and if anyone knows... Rough idea of worth??
Thanks in Advance.
Ken

Like the look of these. Might look for one or the Harmon Kardon version. Very smart.
No idea what they’re worth. Check the internet.

Can you see my avatar? I like the Silver Brand This is a good sounding box It's worth as much as you can sell it for! Mine had issues with the mode selector had to pull it down and just managed to make it work.

Recently got one of these - NOT the Harman K version nor the Montgommery version - come pretty messed up (some traces of accidental soldering iron on the insides, no more tuner dial cord (and these are HELL to restring), slightly bent PCB because someone who quite obiously had replaced 1 (out of 3) belts screwed the whole thing together in a rather chaotic way, including wood-screws, pieces of rubber ,...and...a tape counter window !!! (which explains why on the inside there is a spot for that with even remains of glue for a window). Luckely all pulleys for the tuner dial cord were still present, although one had gone cause its washer was gone... Redid some (enamel) paint on the buttons as well, the power button had gone totally black with some remains of some glueish sticky red orange stuff in its ring. But its fully originalm including a (Straight) folding-in antenna . Stereo led was burnt , but once replaced all leds functionning as they should.

Anyways, got it back to working condition, and much like you I very much liked the look of the Harman, so since the speaker grills were rusty and had to be sanded and get a proper repaint... I did them black. On a personal level I prefer the Silver with black grills and with the aluminum middle tape section over the all-black harmon kardon (or montgomery ward).

Only issue I have now : tuning meter does not work on FM, but works fine on the other 3 bands...

No idea what its worth either - didnt pay much for it since its "tuner was stuck".

Just finished mine...when I got it it wasnt in a bad shape externally, but hell it had suffered on the inside.. the axis that fixed the tuner dial cold to the actual tuner was half broken, no dial cord in it, one belt aparently changed but the other more or les sticky stuff, tapedeck full of dried and sticky and some hardened old grease, aluminum sourround on the tuner window was loose (old glue),... a project :)

Nice surprise on this particular boombox : REC does not engage the tape-motor, so for the VU-meters to work, no matter what the input, just hitting REC wont turn on the tape-motor whilst turning on the VU-meters.

redid the speaker grills (were rusty, and I like its look better in black to be honnest), added some lights (and buttons), did some red touches on the knobs , the power button had nothing left on it and while having some enamel paint at hand..., had to do the tuner dial cord (didnt have any), and refix some washers on some pulleys, after finally figuring out the tuner dial cord path. While at it added some bluetooth to it (tried to remain discrete), put some microleds in the orange thingies on the tuner needles, gave a bit of light to the Tuning vu meter (that didnt work, so that gave a bit of headache to figure out)....

This is the end result of a rather lengthy project, on what is indeed not a huge box but a very very decent one, and it does go loud with some unexpected bass-response. Camera and microhpones arent really good with focussing and recording sound , and leds are waaaaaay less violent than they seem to be , the added ones are actually the same as the original stereo/rec/vu meter leds, lightstrength wise)

If anyone were to need the Service Manual for the 656 / 676 , feel free to pm, I - finally !!! - managed to get it (in English and complete), quite willing to share it (pdf, for free) , not easy to find.

btw it explains pretty well how the tuner dial cord is supposed to go, with a nice surprise : one of the wheels is totally unneccessary yet very present and if one were to follow logic...one would use it, yet when one does : it tangles up the cord. Odd design or production fault ?
