The other day I received my first ever NIB boombox ever, it's no grail but it can thump really hard with great sound  it's a clone of the sharp wf939, model Maxim MX939. I'm guessing made somewhere round 86/87. There's a good number of these floating round on epay UK that was supposedly found in a warehouse somewhere. It's not quiet the quality of the sharp but not far off, for £65 inc postage I had to have one. I am really surprised at the excellent sound quality and loudness of this beast. I had a couple of unopened Memorex DBS C60 cassettes that compliment this box really well with the colours too.

I would recommend this box too anyone it really is a big surprise and even has real tweeters that are crisp as hell. Here are a few rushed pics I took, not the best quality but you can see it's a brand spanker.....enjoy

Yeah it's surprisingly very good  there is no true line in it's phono in, but I just use a converter and it sounds bang on

Oh man I'm a sucker for a "NIB" Very cool, and congrats on your 1st. Isn't it nice to get a boombox that needs no repairs? Just unbox and enjoy.

Lol I knew temptation would get a grip soon enough  the led meter is peach bro, it's red and green and is in like a X stretched sideways shape, if you know what I mean. It's quiet a heavy box at around 9/10 kilos so no lightweigh, and it really does sound great with proper tweets for crisp highs and plenty of bass. It goes very loud too with virtually no distortion. For the price it's a must have mate, so that's my recommendation to you

Hmmmm ... I'm a silver and chrome early 80's box collector at heart ... but tempted all the same ... how do they compare against other more well known makes and models? ... £49 seems worth a punt but I stall due to the look of these ... plus £49 could be used towards another more classic oldie ... I'll probably rain check ... but then ... that old collector's dilemma ;-)

I know what your saying here JT, but for the price for a NIB I just had to :-) besides I have a nice 83/84 classic box on the way too  pics and info when it arrives. Back on topic, these sound really good mate and don't half bang, decent quality too for a later 80's box, much better quality than the big empty black boxes.

Recently an authentic Sharp WF-939 NIB (even with old batteries included) surfaced here locally, they asked 1200$, was bought on the same day.

...you are fuelling my addiction ...somebody call a medic ;-)

...although this is not quite as classy looking IMO as the Sharp original ...but for a mere fraction of the Sharp's current street price ...hmmm ...lol :-)

still not opened mine, its staying sealed up i think, have seen one in the flesh and out of the box (the shop had one out in the window)and it looks superb, but i wanted one that i could put away for the future,my plan now is to aquire another, preferably slightly used, unboxed etc for an even cheaper price that i can use and save the boxed one for posterity
