HI :-)

I know the VZ-3000 is not a boom box as such ... but I have first dibs on the one that is on gumtree nsw at the moment for $50 (its organised - so no grass cutting  )

Just want to know when I go and look at it ... what things should I be looking for to make sure it is working / easy to fix ?

also .... Whats everyones opinion on its look and the quality ?

Thanks :surf:

Nice unit - well worth 50 bucks (if it has the orig. speakers - otherwise you can get it for that price every few weeks...)

You should check if the turntable works  . If not, the door should at least open.
Tape would also be nice because it is a pain in the neck to change belts on the VZs ;-) .
FM Stereo should be there normally.

Bad things are if the turntable turns but the needles don't go down/skip. That might be rather hard to adjust.
Slow or fast playing should be no issues...a belt or an adjustment should fix that.

Good luck! :-)

Thanks for that info ... it does have the original speakers :)

The lady said it works but may? need a new stylus. Which would be a bummer because it would be hard to test if it works before buying. Is there a way I can watch if the record player looks like it may work even though it may need a new needle?

Looking at the pics on the net, I really like the styling so it would be a great feature in a room. What is the sound quality like?

They're great units! Here's my now defunct one with her other family members

I used mine for ages, great sound and superb looks. Not too hard to work, turntable shares 90% of it's parts with a VZ-2000.

Well worth the effort for $50!

Rock On.
