Sharp GX BT-9X FM reception is weak

just ordered this while the BT & USB work fine the FM radio is not very good as far as reception goes
my JVC RV-NB1 gets better signal. but was wondering how i can improve the signal of the sharp not sure if i should just return it in hopes for a better unit with FM reception or are they all the same? maybe someone can let me know. you think in 2025 they could make a radio with great reception i know the old Sharp radios were good on FM

I owned one 7-8 years ago, and I think I remember its reception wasn't impressive. That's typical for modern portables, the vast majority of them don't have good tuners anymore.

i was wondering if putting on a longer antenna would help? but I'm not sure if it would make much difference

it seems like the antenna that's on it doesn't make much difference at all up or down unless i use some speaker wire wrapped around it it makes the reception a little better.

i did try hooking it to my antenna in my attic which did work but of course on a portable unit that's not really an option i just took a piece of coax & hooked a clip lead to the boombox antenna.
