Sharp gf-9696z power issue

I have a gf-9696 that only powers on when the cassette deck is in play mode. Like a sleep feature would operate. I was thinking a bad power switch. Does the gf-9696 have a sleep function? Any suggestions to find the culprit or diagnose this further?

so I used some compressed air into the power switch (depresses on off ) then a healthy few squirts of deox and we are up and running...
