My first box is in the post to me (Sharp GF525). And I'm already looking for the next one . I like the looks of the 8989 and the 950 and prices seem similar. So, if you had to choose one based on sound quality, reliability and spares availability what would your preference be?

You would be better off with the sharp but the aiwa would destroy it in almost every category but its hard to work on.

8989 is a good looking radio, but sonically it's nothing special IMHO. The 950 sounds much better.

Agree with all of the above, GF8989 will be easier to work on but much less good sound, the 950 is a very special box and is as good as it gets on 6 D's but is definitely much harder to work on.

Don't let the Awai's 6 D cells fool you either - BTL amp equipped !!!!!
sounds better than the m70, can't get any better on 6'd's
You just be hatin on the m70, bro. The m70 is a phenomenal box. What's the deal?

M70 blows every other midsize box away outdoors, but for indoor use I'd rather use the Aiwa. Such clarity, warmth and awesome Wide setting.

you're probably correct Sir, I'v just had no luck with m70's, anybody from years ago would agree with me though

Reli you are correct the m70 is louder my friend but for that I just skip to the m90

Ok I'm sold, I want a 950. But I think I'll wait until I've got a couple of boxes under my belt before I commit

Thanks for all the replies. There's some very knowledgeable people on here
