Bummer.....

I have always had good luck calling paypal and ebay services. It helps push the settlement faster and usually in your favor if you have all your ducks-in-a-row  .

Good luck.
:agree: Some good ideas here...

I got burned a month ago. This year seems worse than last, from the looks of things...

That sux, Ira!

I have heard of people shipping a photograph of the item with delivery confirmation, which buys them time behind ebay's built in protection measures (must ship to confirmed, must provide delivery confirmation, etc.... ) that makes it that much harder for the buyer to get money back... because from ebay's perspective something was indeed shipped and received.

Ask your security folks if they found a strange letter of any kind, not just for a huge box...

Also.... good rules to follow here...

ALL of your sad facts are correct, bobby --

do you think ebay has ANY responsibility ??

If the transaction was covered by eBay one of the claims is non-delivery, they should reimburse you.

This is one of the long line of scams I've been pointing out over the last few months, the listings have been fairly obviously scams as Fatdog has pointed out with his trail of feedback.

I know that doesn't help Ira and I'm sorry to see it happen but that's why it's "Buyer Beware".

:agree: with you MB -

since tracking numbers are a sure way to TRICK the ebay protection system -
---then it really is ' buyer beware '

bill -- with ebay//paypal items -
no signature is required under a certain $$ amount
No signature is required at ALL if the seller never uses Ebay's pre-paid shipping.

Personally it sounds like someone near you stole it after it was dropped off. Or even someone at the post office. Gotta be plenty of people around there who know you collect boomboxes

Is it remotely possible someone is playing a trick on you Ira. Perhaps kid or wife . I mean is it at all possible that said box ended up in thier hands and will appear as a gift this holiday season. :-) it's remote but given the fact they said it was delivered.... I mean it could be a possibility

Perhaps knocking some unsuspecting passer by's teeth out will make you feel better? I know it helps me in times like this. After all, they are bound to be guilty of something in some way shape or form that would warrant such an action. Solid standards like this and my level-headedness are the main reasons I plan on running for president.

Hopefully this made u grin Ira amidst the aggrivation as this was the intention.

Sorry to hear about the snookering. It would seem that even if they sent an empty envelope, you would have at least received that. Sounds like an inside job that may require interrogation. Maybe I can help you sort it out. Ill bring my dental drill.

the latest update is that our own USPS is dropping the ball -
left and right -
my local PO --had me contact the national postmasters office -
they did nothing :annoyed:
then finally referred me to their local branch -- 60 miles away -
who also did NOTHING --
except refer me to some 'other' postal inspector agency --

wow -- they sure do have alot a sub-agencies
who do NOTHING :dunce:  :dunce: :dunce:

so --at this point --its just a sick comedy to me -

not giving up, though :-) :-D :-D

---------------------------------------------
since the PO failed -
its now all up to ebay --

so --lets let this thread rest for a few weeks -
and see what they do |-) ;-)

Shut up man :-D I am trying to not allow his entire holiday season be ruined. Seriously all kidding aside I've seen weirder jokes. Like someone giving a 80 year old man a fake scratch and match lotto ticket that was for a hundred thousand dollars. You never know what kind of tricks people play on eachother. Ira if the item was really expensive and they say they delivered it you should get the cops involved. I mean I don't know how things work down there but usually it's a pretty safe bet to get peoples attention. If they won't listen piss and moan to the local media. You'd be surprised at the things that get done when that happens up here.
