I've been listing things on ebay, S2G, Boomboxery and Craiglist but the responses have been really poor. My asking prices have been less than they would have been last year but almost no response at all.  It's easy to see how the F'd up economy has really effected how people spend. If I asked much less for my items it wouldn't be worth it to sell them, just box them up and drive em over to Goodwill.

Anybody else had a rough time selling your items lately?

ME, ME, and ME again!!! :-)

I sell them to people who don't pay!!! Same as not selling them at all!

I feel like I offer them for bargain prices, then get shot down.

I will not sell no more boxes for less than I paid, NOPE.... I'll let them rot first! :-P

Problem is you never can tell when to nut jobs are going to triple the price of a box, it's a real crap shoot.
Don't forget the $980 NIB Kaboom from several weeks ago.

I have a pair of kick ass Energy Bipolar speakers with dual driver powered subs in each tower up for sale for only $350, they sold new for $2500, granted the end caps need repainting but that's simple to do. Energy had to stop making them because of patent infringement on Definitive Technology Bipolars. Not one bite, I'm amazed because these are known power house sound staging speakers. I've been listening to them the last few days and damn!!!!!! they freaking kick butt.

I feel like I am propping up the entire JVC market on my own.... just wait until I start to sell off some extras. Then you will see things tank.

Although there must be a couple of guys out there bidding with serious money... I am losing out sometimes with higher than expected bids. And the ones I do win it's a fight for sometimes... no serious "deals" to be had.... on things I need anyway. :hmmm:

Anyway..... I guess I had better start slowly trotting out some of my boxes I want to sell if I plan on getting anything for them. Good thing none of them are high-dollar items. Or at least not anymore.... :'-(

I'm starting to feel that way to Johnny, if it's going to be so hard to give some of this stuff away for cheap it would be easier just to drive it over to GoodWill and let some other schlep have an orgasmic moment when they find em on the shelves. :w00t:

Orgasmic moment :-O :w00t:

No joke, I honestly look at these radios before I sell them and go "why?"... it ends up being space... because everyone is exactly what I wanted when I bought it!!! Not giving it away anymore.... and will only buy MUST HAVES until I can sell my GOTTA GO'S... :-D

Yeah, then stand there and wait for some shlub to start looking at them.... Then mention "those go for alot on ebay these days from what I have heard" :grim:

BTW MB84 have you tried listing those Energy speakers on Audiogon? Those are some high-dollar customers that are always trading gear around. And most of them can't stand ebay. I am a member there and I pay for access to the Audio Bluebook. Give me the model number of your speakers and I will see what data they have on them.

My problem Johnny is I bought kind of want to have's as well as the gotta haves. Well it's time for the kind of want to have's to clear out, my buying has tightened up to the point of almost drying up now. I have to get control of my boxes or what's the point? :hmmm:

Hey guys... BUY LOW, SELL HIGH!!!

The economy may be bad, but it goes both ways. Go on a buying spree!

However.... some of the grails I've been coveting have been anything but bargain basement priced. I guess others have noticed this as well. Perhaps the serious collectors are the only ones looking. New collectors may be on the decline.

Also, some of the posts I see poking fun at the high prices some items sold for or ridiculing greedy sellers for asking for high prices.... they don't help to further the hobby. The forum is public and and there was another recent topic about the high number of "lurkers" here on the site. You may have a point about the prices, but you can't have it both ways.

Sell low to me please and buy high from me please........

another example--
this good looking m70 --
died at only $107 = top bid

http://cgi.ebay.com/JVC-RC-M70JW-Vintag ... 7C294%3A50

There are too many M70's out there for people to mess around with reserves.

BTW What if I told you I was aware of a warehouse that had 50-70 M70s in it right now just sitting there.... (No not me)

Well, when you flood the market with anything, it's going to be a free fall in prices. Guess it's time to stock up on M70's until market get's better.

Huh? WTF, how did you find something like that? Are you talking NIB's or just used M70's?

I can't say who or where... (Not Houston though), but there are M70's off all sorts in there. Among alot of others.... M70s are just what there are the most of. Someone is sitting on them. $50 grand + worth of boomboxes.... probably more.

And there was another stash, 2 storage units full.... that all got sold this spring to one buyer. It took an entire day just to load them up. I know the seller personally, but I never got a peek at what was there before it all got sold. I wish I would have made the trip to cherry-pick, but I didn't even though I could have..... He never had an accurate accounting of what was there so it would have been a heck of a project.

Wow, a quiet collector of immense proportions. Must have been a sight to see!
