experienced advice requested---

if we buy an object - ( non ebay ) from an individual -- not a company
and pay via paypal --
and the paypal funds are from a credit card

then --the seller ships nothing --

are we ' protected ' --100 %

or - what if they ship a USELESS POS ?
still protected ?

if i suspect a rip-off --even after only 2 days of the paypal payment-
can i file claims immediately - ?

or do i have to WAIT for it to prove it did NOT GET SHIPPED ????

You can initiate a credit card chargeback any time. PayPal will probably ask that you wait some time but if you have good reason to believe fraud, you should probably contact them immediately.

As I believe the rules to read you only have item quality protection if it is an ebay transaction paid via PayPal. Otherwise you only have protection that you receive something... even if that something is a petrified turd with a bow and a tracking number. If there is a delivery confirmation you are SOL... so better to get it taken care of before that happens....

hey joel --does the added master card factor protect against the ' piece of turd ' scenario ?

Normally if you pay by credit card you're able to make a claim against your card but they may argue that all they did was top up your PayPal account rather than Pay for the item. I'm fairly up on these things as I work for a uk advice organisation and as far as I know the credit card rules are world wide. Hope it gets sorted for you!

I agree with Northerner.... PayPal as an intermediary adds mud to the waters. You might do better directing your communication to PayPal telling them if they do not reverse the transaction you will be filing a claim with Mastercard against PayPal. Of course the result might be them suspending your account. Unless it is a big dollar deal I would be more inclined to ride it out the best you can. The risk of not having access to PayPal is too great since you are a frequent buyer/seller....
