So I found this Sears SR 2100 Series BoomBox at a thrift store a few days ago, and what a find it was! I have to admit, the sound is excellent. It does not have any gauges on sound controls, so I am assuming it was not a 'top of the line' boombox for it's time. The sound on it seems to carry for miles, however. As for the tape deck, it works. The sound is rather muffled. I wonder if a new belt could fix this problem??
there were numerous boxes from Sears that carried the SR2100 model number.
If the head has an adjustment screw, you can try to adjust the azimuth / alignment and that might clear things up.
